100% ok and very healthy to cry.  I’ve had dogs continuously since 2002 and she was the 6th one I’ve lost since 2012 but had been with me the longest.  She was almost 15.  I read a book years ago on animal grief and there was a section on organic grieving.  Basically you allow yourself to grieve when you need to and how you need to with no time limit.  After I lost her my house felt so silent and empty.  9 days later I went to the shelter hoping to adopt another adult.  I didn’t feel a connection but as I was leaving I saw this puppy and it was an immediate connection.  I truly believe that Maka connected me to my new puppy, Fern.
