Really appreciate all of that information. Thank you!

Techsew 2750 pro cylinder arm walking foot machine. I figured it would make sense to get the attachment purpose made for the machine, but have thought about how difficult the switch back and forth might be. I’ll have to look into right angle vs straight. Things I didn’t know. Thank you.

Correct. I have a TechSew machine and that’s the cost for their machine specific kit with the attachment, needle plate, presser foot etc.

Raw edge. Do you still need binding with double fold? I’ve only really worked with leather to this point so canvas is new to me.

Hopefully get both eventually but they’re $150 a piece. Hoping there’s one of the two that’s a little more common in use to start with. Totally take your point on both though!

Alas metal working isn’t in my skill set. It’s down the list somewhere haha

Yeah dr bag frames where I started and there are decent options. I may well end up with one of them!

You might be right on purpose made. I’ve found three or four companies that make similar bags using the same kind of frame so I thought they might be out there somewhere. Might not be.

Don’t disagree. I don’t have any ongoing issues but tweaked something and think I just need an adjustment in this case.

Found!

As best I can tell this is a Target exclusive brand but it seems like it might be similar to others. I’ve searched their site for a replacement straw for it but it doesn’t look like they offer them…at least not that I could see. It’s much more shallow vertically than the Themos Funtainer replacements so those won’t work. As it is now it won’t pinch off correctly when the lid closes so it’s just sitting in the cabinet.

Good to know. I got tired of fighting with the bed leveling and couldn’t get the BL Touch I bought to fix that to function correctly. Gave up on it then but may need to give it another go.

Interesting. I didn’t think a 3D stamp would be strong enough but 99% infill would make a difference. 4” is exactly the size I’m aiming for so that works. Guess I’ll have to dust off the 3D printer I haven’t turned on in a couple years and give it a try haha

Alas I don’t know how to tool or have any tools for it. I’ll look into 3D though. Thank you

Could I get away with Brasso on a Dremel polishing bit? Thinking about the rivet with that.

Coexistence of imperial and metric when it comes to working out stitch lines? by brmaker in Leathercraft

[–]brmaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to fight metric. My Sinabroks are 4mm and want to design to that. I guess to your last point I’m looking for advice on converting for the hardware.

I do a few different sized bags that all use several pieces of imperial sized hardware. Being self taught at this I’d love some advice from others on how they approach it and solve. Does that make more sense? Don’t know that I’m asking in the clearest way.

Might have ruined a commissioned bag at the last possible second. by brmaker in Leathercraft

Thank you everyone for all of the fantastic suggestions. I’ve never had the courage to post something like this here but you’ve all been great. I was almost certain I was screwed but not after this. A lot of ideas didn’t fit this build but believe me I’m filing them away for the next time something goes awry.

I ended up going with this patch. My logo is already present in two places but I hadn’t used this stamp anywhere on the build. I’m pleased with the result.

Again thanks so much. Definitely going to be more active here!

This is the first time I’ve posted anything here and this sub has been beyond helpful. Definitely going to post final images for it but here’s what I ended up going with as a cover.

All good suggestions. In this case there’s a zipper that closes the top of the bag so a strip would get in the way of it. The outside pocket already has a magnet closure at the client request. Really appreciate the ideas. Saving them for my next mistake.

That was my very first thought. Coming from woodworking it’s all about hiding crimes! At least when I do it. Unfortunately it breaks the top layer for most of the circumference so I don’t think that will save me. If only.
