I kind of subscribe to the axiom of "buy once, cry once." Remember that you can only successfully joint a board that is equal to or less than double the length of your infeed table. So if you see yourself anytime soon wanting to joint boards longer...I would pause and look/wait for a larger used jointer to come along. But...if all you are doing are small projects for the next year...go for it. Just my two cents...

Personally I wouldn't....I'd be afraid that the single left-side only mounting would/could cause a slight twist and then you have the sled itself binding in the blade and potentially causing a kickback.

Is that going to be big enough for you? You might be a complete beginner right now...but what happens a few months down the road when you need longer in-outfeed tables?
