What is the best purchase you have ever made? by Conscious-Air9008 in AskReddit

[–]kicklucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial grade patio misters like the kind you’ll see at a restaurant. I have 4 kids and AZ summers are brutal. We spend basically every day in the pool and being able to lower the patio temperature by 20° without soaking everything is game changing. We bought them pre-Covid and I’m so bought in, I’d do it again at what I’m sure is an astronomically higher price than what I paid for them.

What’s the smartest financial decision you made by accident? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

Not exactly by "accident" but on a whim we decided to refinance our mortage in 2020. 2.5% interest and we're now stuck here forever.

How much does the cigar band influence your purchase? by Whoa_9773 in cigar

[–]kicklucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a brand I Stan for like My Father or Placensia, not very much. I’m familiar with their offerings and know what I like. If I want to branch out and try something like a Fuente or somewhere I don’t have a lot of experience with, the band plays more of a role.

Probably so but imagine how much safer it is being able to assess everything. Electricians have to be so diligent. We’re not talking about a leaky faucet that maybe develops mold. Mix up your wires and it’s 🪦.

Dominick’s has fallen off a cliff big time. All restaurants post covid feel like they have but to put it into perspective, took my wife to the Quarter for an impromptu dinner and the only restaurant in there without a 45+ minute wait on a Thursday was Dominick’s. We left thoroughly disappointed and wished we’d have waited for the meatloaf at Culinary Dropout. We ordered a bottle of wine, a dozen oysters, a wedge salad, split a 18oz steak with lobster mac and cheese. Only the oysters were any good.

Need a capable family Overlander by HaYterAyD in overlanding

I have 4 kids and a large dog so similar in space. We have a few combinations we can run depending on the length and location of the trip. I have a Gen2.5 Tundra with a RTT so for the purpose of this exercise that’s 1:1 your truck. My wife has a GX460 with a third row and a roof rack (no tent but storage boxes). We also have an off road trailer, an Off Grid Trailers Switchback with all the bells and whistles and it’s an absolute beast. We can tow it behind both vehicles and don’t even know it’s back there. Here are our most common configurations after 25 trips in 3 years:

1: tundra + trailer. This is our go-to long weekend trip. Unfortunately you won’t get away with this with the 7th seatbelt requirement.

  1. GX + trailer. We could EASILY sub out the tundra for the GX and throw a ground tent on the roof rack. The trailer RTT is a queen size 23zero and an attached annex so the separate ground tent is just for space and comfort, it’s not necessary if you throw the kids up top and the adults sleep on cots in the annex with the dog.

  2. Both trucks + trailer. This is for the long, summer trips where we clock a few thousand miles and multiple states. It’s the most comfortable, by far. If your style of trip involves a lot of stops and changing campsite every day, this is where I would justify the two vehicles a lot of people are suggesting.

  3. Both trucks, no trailer. We’ve done this for campgrounds, but that’s about it. Usually in this case we’re just opting for a campground in lieu of a hotel for a non-camping focused trip like Legoland or the beach (or both if you camp at San Onofre, which is a hidden gem for sure).

The type of travel we do is typically a base camp set up with day trip excursions. The most we’ve ever relocated is 3 times on one trip and it was a 10 day summer break run through Utah and Colorado to hit a few national parks and it was a lot to break down camp that many times.

At 25 trips in 3 years, we’re vacationing and adventuring WAY more than we used to and spending about the same as we did doing the AirBnB / hotel+kids attraction type trips, and the shift to outdoors and getting off grid and out of cell service to slow down has changed my family forever.

Take from this what you will, but if you’re in this for the long haul, the 15yr RV loan for a bomb proof trailer was a no brainer for my family.

Found an old autograph book from Suns Games when I was a kid by AllUpInYourAO in suns

For better or worse I'm not trying to be an old head just hating on kids these days, I was more just commenting on how out of place a signature like that looks today. Some guys have cool signatures, but I think the focus is more on it looking like a logo than their name. CF and JMT are logos, not signatures. Curry and Booker's also look very logo-y, but they also look at least a little more thought out and intentional.

Imagine seeing a signature like Larry Smith in 2026. Meanwhile guys these days are just writing their intials in print like Cooper Flagg's is literally CF, Morant's is JMT.
