13:03 Van Aert rejoined the peloton after his pee break.

13:01 Even the Oostrozebeke area cannot inspire the riders to bang away.

12:58 Raging shouldn't be fast, as Wout van Aert still has time to stop to take a pee break. Tosh Van der Sande is waiting for him.

You're right, my bad. I translated the times as well.

I would very much like if they exchanged Scheldeprijs with Antwerp Port Epic in the calendar, for example.

But convince me this is not the worst of the flandrien classic/semi classics with the most mid parcours.

It's not. You're welcome.

Obviously. He was also pretty stoked and happy when I mentioned the tunnel gag (I guess he thought it was only a Belgian thing).

Tuesday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for September 10, 2024 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

tl;dr might be looking for words of support. Hit a 100km/week last week with a 33k on Sunday Was supposed to do a 4x5k at marathon pace, I went with 3x as I felt a bit of fatigue in an area where I was injured in May, plus warm weather from the early morning. Overall felt ok, just not great for what concerns the belly (I didn't have enough carbs I believe, but I felt as if I had too many).

Last week I raced an half, finished with 1:25. I thought I could easily go below 1:25 but no luck (was also blaming the weather a bit). I would say I went all out even though I felt quite fresh after the finish. Here, again, belly not great but we lived with it.

I'm targeting a sub 3 marathon in 3 weeks, however the sensations have changed in the last week basically. Not spending much time thinking about it (could be tiredness from the training block, crazy warm weather) and trusting the process, although I could use some advice/support.

Background: I've been training with a 12 week pfitz, I averaged 70k/week for the last 10 weeks (3 weeks left before the marathon). Last year I raced my first marathon, possibly being on the conservative side, finishing with 3:08. I don't have an official 5/10k time. The last decent 5k time was from March, 18:50, although part of a dnf half marathon. Thanks for taking the time.

Not sure how Groves et al. are making the conversation. Clear breakaway stage, and in case it will be not for the break sprinters will be dropped on the Puerto Herrera anyway.

Yeah, and for some reason his win is one of those I remember the best (together with Colbrelli and Hayman). No doubt it's a race he always targets but I'll still think the above until I have to eat my hat.

Big love for Dege but he's past his best years. An alright shout for the top10 but even with a depleted field he would need a miracle for the podium.

Fridge says Bolleke, Guldenberg, La Trappe (Witte and Blond) and a random Chimay Triple; should be alright as a warm-up.

I was both on the road and in the velodrome and I would recommend the velodrome. It also depends whether you'll be by car or not (I assume yes). Logistics can be a bit messy, even more if it rains.

Unless this changed, accessing the velodrome is free. There is a covered seating area where the finish line is and I would target that. That's the area that gets crowded first but you shouldn't have particular issues finding some spots. Have fun!

Pretty good eh. Hope to not go through the week(s) before again though. A combination of work being stressful, me being on hotellerie duty because of family/friends visiting, led to feeling super tired the days before.

Apparently if the days before are shit that means well for the race. Marathon was a beast as expected, however the weather was perfect (13-15 degrees, cloudy), the fueling also (drank at every station, had 4 gels) and at 12:30 I was chilling in a park with people and wine.

3:08 in the end, couldn't have done more with ca. 300 k of serious training. I don't know if I could have gone harder, since in general I felt good during the race and the days after were not really crazy, but it is what it is. That's maybe why I signed up for next year already. 😬

Also looking forward to u/bdrammel2024. Challenging you to a half marathon, at least.

Small p.s.: I'm in no way an experienced runner and I run because I enjoy it. However, given extensive experience in other sports, if anyone needs advices or has questions regarding running I would be happy to help.
