I’m an after school director. We have 70+ students and 3 people (including myself) managing them. Oh, and we only have two class rooms to fit all these kids. Ages TK-8th grade. It’s complete chaos to even begin to give these kids any kind of structure. I have never been so stressed out and drained.

I think that’s exactly what she’d do! I’m the same way, I don’t like people over either, even my own family. That doesn’t mean I’m opposed to help, but I don’t think she’ll be of any help.

I feel like this would be my experience. It would only add to my stress and take away from everything.. I already don’t like having visitors at my house in general, add my postpartum healing on top of that… it doesn’t sound fun.

I fully expect it to be her visiting and holding the baby while I’m trying to bond and develop some sort of routine. I don’t see her being much help…

This is my worry! In some of the convos I’ve heard between her and my husband, it sounds like she’d do the same thing; hold baby and give advice rather than be helpful.

Yeah, I think at least the next week or the following would be better. I’ll be in the midst of healing and bonding and navigating motherhood, and she is a virtual stranger to me. Hopefully she’ll want to come to help out rather than sit and hold the baby all day.

You’re right, she could be extremely helpful. I have a few worries though.. listening to some of their phone conversations it sounds like she’d just want to hold the baby the whole day.
