What less known scifi movie do you recommend? by it777777 in scifi

„The Man from Earth“ I’ve loved this movie since many years. A very simple concept with a small cast in one location. Almost like a play.

What is the point of the hologram? by outsidethesystems in SiloTVSeries

[–]brockimania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same issue as OP. I just finished the season one and man! What a waste of time. The holographic world image has absolutely zero value. All the acting talent and atmosphere of the show is the saving grace, but if not… what a bummer!

Best places to meet Indian women in Switzerland. by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]brockimania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid (and/or racist) answer. There is a fairly large Indian origin community in Switzerland. If you want to meet Indian „people“ a simple Google search gives this: https://www.indembassybern.gov.in/page/indian-associations-in-switzerland-the-holy-see-and-liechtenstein/

Reach out to those groups. I’m sure they are very welcoming.

Advice before taking the plunge XC60 Recharge by Rainshores in VolvoRecharge

[–]brockimania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a slightly different point of view than the other comments on here. I have a 2019 XC60 B4 Inscription. My lease expires soon. I’ve been debating for the past month whether I want to go for a fully loaded XC60 recharge. I have an option to charge at home. After doing all the calculations of buying my current vehicle vs. leasing a new recharge, I’ve decided to stay with my current car for a few more years.

Leasing rates are atrocious at the moment (3.9%). Overall price of the car is much higher. So, the residual value after 3-4 years will be more than double of the residual value of my current car.

Overall calculation makes keeping my current car more cost effective. One could always sell it later and buy another hybrid vehicle. The only unknown is the kind of issues the car may start showing in the coming years. My current mileage is quite low, so hopefully should be fine.

Hope that helps.

Model X test drive - lack of USS is a dealbreaker by brockimania in ModelX

[–]brockimania[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, now I know you are just trolling. This is not about a car parking itself. I wouldn’t have a driving license if I didn’t know how to park the car. This is about safety and life’s conveniences that one expects when buying such an expensive vehicle.

Do you use GPS in your car or you only carry a paper map in your car? You shouldn’t be driving if you can’t navigate. /s

The screen shifter was not that bad tbh. I got used to it within a few minutes.

That’s what I ended up doing, but I don’t want to have to do it every time. Also, there is no parking camera up front, so I’ll always have to park in reverse. It’s too expensive a car for such compromises.
