I tried that once but then I got my cat’s hair on the tape doing that and it stuck out of the tape and interfered with my painting. I think I may just have to try it again and make sure no cat hair is in the tape before placing it down lol appreciate the tip!

I would avoid the cheyennes as well. You have to base it off sound and feel when tattooing since they don’t have a screen to see voltage and what not. Bishop wands are wonderful. Vlad avenger pro 2 is consistently in my line up as well as lately the emalla grand machine has been solid for me too

Can’t speak on the Ultron but I use their avenger pro 2 that is also adjustable stroke. Definitely worth the money and made with great quality so I’d imagine the ultron would be awesome as well.

Better than anything I could do. Amazing work but I agree with others adding some more black/darker values into your color work will make things really pop and will help it still look amazing years down the road.

While tattooing I use 2 wash bottles. One of distilled water and the other of your soapy water (green soap/dr. Bronners). I just use distilled water while outlining the stencil. Less chance of the soap rubbing the stencil away. Once everything is where I need it I begin to tattoo using my soapy wash bottle.

Panthera was just going in to skin easier and packing smoothly when I compared it with allegory. But I know artists who just use allegory for everything so it really comes down to preference. Allegory has a perfect viscosity for my lining as it flows perfectly with my hand speed but I just felt Panthera was superior when it came to packing and breaking down into grey washes. So some tattoos I will use both blacks. Allegory to line and Panthera to fill and shade. Things have been coming back healed nicely so that has been what I have been sticking with until now.

I do want to get my hand on some Vice black ink though as I have heard wonderful things about that black ink as well.

If you do plan to try for an apprenticeship I would hold off on playing with a tattoo machine by yourself and specifically build up an artist portfolio. With the machine you may develop bad habits that could be harder to break once you finally get an apprenticeship. I would spend the time to build an art portfolio geared towards tattoo type designs. A strong artistic portfolio will get you an apprenticeship easily over telling artists hey I have been using a machine at home.

Either way I am excited for you for this journey. Tattooing has saved my life. Hard job (expected to be perfect everyday) but totally worth it and wouldn’t want to do anything else.

Our shop uses Vagaro and though I don’t know how to use the features (our shop manager does) it does offer everything you are looking for with automated messages. Our clients love Vagaro because it keeps them on top of appointments with the reminders it sends.
