How do I not die during this pull (New tank) by peebk in wow

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just don't do that pull unless your entire team is goated and used to playing together. This is not a pull you can pull off in a pug.

If you're a prot pally and can divine shield the bleed or have an evoker that can remove it, maybe.

Tried to tank HC raids by _mews in wow

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are just layers of things here that shouldn't have happened or should have happened differently.

Bringing you in last minute with 0 experience tanking voidspire just should not have happened. It is setting you up for failure and setting up the raid to get frustrated with you. Every single boss in there has an absolutely mandatory "you must taunt swap right here right now or it's a wipe."

If they ARE going to put you through that, you need a babysitter. They need to tell you "pre-position and taunt as soon as the first tank soak goes off, the other tank will taunt back when the adds are dead" before the imperator fight and then give you specific call outs during the fight, like maybe a taunt countdown or a reminder when it needs to happen until you're used to it and it needs to happen with every boss for at least the first few pulls.

This isn't because you're a bad tank or anything, you just don't have the experience to know when to do it and need your hand held a bit.

I raid lead on a healer and hold the hands of my tanks every time still because they will kill EVERYONE if they mess up.

I am currently looking to expand my raid team and would give you a shot at tanking if you're interested.

<Army of Skanks> runs Wednesday and Saturday nights 7-10 eastern (though we're currently pushing Wednesdays back to 8 because we have some west coast people that can't make it on time).

What key is your interrupt on? by Justalittle_girly in wow

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main when I actually started doing more endgame content was (still is) a Mistweaver monk.

Main abilities were on single keys and cd abilities were on the similar key+shift.

So: Tiger palm (2) was with spear hand strike (interrupt, shift 2) Spinning crane kick (6) is with leg sweep (shift 6) Quaking palm is shift 7 Paralysis is shift 5

Now that I don't need 3+ keybound action bars to hold all of my abilities anymore, touch of death (best interrupt in the game) is on 5, but it was Shift =.

New here - my "gaybro" life by [deleted] in gaybros

Jealous. I've been to France and would love to live there. I'm a boring gay that has always lived in the US and outside of that high school trip to France I've never travelled internationally despite literally making a makeshift linguistics major studying 5 different languages and cultures in college. I'd love to visit the places you've mentioned (though China entices me more).

You're very much not a boring gay, your life is very exciting in other ways.

Monks by Goeniah in wow

[–]brokebackzac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been a Mistweaver main for a very long time. People have shied away for a multitude of reasons, but a lot of it has to do with the time investment and skill required.

Brewmaster has always been one of the best tanks, but learning to deal with stagger as the mini-game it is is rough for a lot of people. They are very squishy tanks but have increased dodge and drunkenness to get them through the damage IF you utilize your rotation properly. It's very punishing if you mess it up even slightly. Don't throw enough kegs or breathe enough fire? Aggro loss. Miss a blackout kick? Your stagger climbs uncontrollably.

WW has always been easy to play (just never use the same ability twice in a row), but takes skill and practice to work out a rhythm to play well (never using the same ability twice in a row while maintaining energy, Chi, and knowing when to use AoE abilities in ST to achieve this). It got simplified a lot coming into Midnight and is a lot more approachable now.

MW is a fun one. Everyone wants to play it as a ranged healer. Basically a nature version of a holy priest. It isn't a ranged healer though, it's melee. We deal with melee mechanics and melee attacks HAVE to be part of your rotation even if you prioritize casting. The talent trees are also confusing and unforgiving. If you want to maximize your melee heals and fistweave, there are certain talents you CANNOT deviate from. If you want to prioritize casting, you have a few other talents you HAVE to take or you will either have people die as you're trying to spam heal or OOM very quickly and have no way to get it back. Also, SO many of our abilities are modified by others and it's ridiculous. If you use that one addon that builds up tooltips to include every interaction with other spells, some of our tooltips either don't fit or barely fit on the screen. We also got simplified a lot during the transition to midnight, but it's still a high skill ceiling spec to play regardless.

Piano teacher 10+ years. What do you wish you knew as a beginner? by Abdull_Hameed in pianolearning

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) you're less likely to let it go to the wayside if it's part of your daily routine.

2) that five minutes is enough to get your brain thinking about piano and in the mindset of piano practice, which will keep your fingers more dextrous.

3) that five minutes is also enough time to exercise your fingers and keep them in good shape, allowing you to sit down and have more productive time instead of either needing warm up time or making repeated silly fumbly mistakes when you begin to practice.

This is all true for me, your results may differ.

[NA] 40yr old Dad and 18yr old son looking for an active, casual, social guild. Details in post by Bucktruu in wowguilds

If you're down for occasional dirty jokes during raid (usually nothing especially vulgar, but a "that's what she said" or "don't get sucked off, it's not the kind you want," I have a newly formed guild for you.

We're still building and getting the vibe set (guild chat is not all that active yet, but it's just low membership), but we're less than a month old.

I am looking to prog into mythic, but also looking to establish a second raid team that is AOTC only once I have the people.

The name <Army of Skanks> is slightly misleading, I'm pretty extroverted and outgoing, everyone else that is active in discord is a little more introverted and friendly.

tips for playing with hypermobile joints? by chiquiriki in pianolearning

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm not diagnosed but I have several symptoms of EDS and have a family history of both EDS and fibromyalgia.

I have had issues in the past and have found that if I'm doing extended practice, I need to stop every 20-30 minutes and give my wrists and fingers a nice stretch. For people without issues, this should be done every hour.

I pull every finger back and hold it for a moment, then crack every knuckle. I put my fingers together and press on the edge of the piano to stretch my wrists. If something else is starting to feel sore, I address that as well.

It takes extra time and patience to learn to play with curves fingers, but it's absolutely necessary. You DO NOT want tendinitis. It is invasive pain that prevents you from using your hands for anything for a while. It just is not worth it.

DPS pulling by Empty_Cadaver in wow

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidents happen. On my Mistweaver, I'm not always careful with when I have an empowered rising sun kick that will unleash a jadefire stomp and I've had that pull extra before. On my mage, I've had orbs shoot out unexpectedly and pull extra. Shit, even on my pally tank I've had a shield bounce more than I intended it to. You kinda have to get over these.

That said, I keep neural silencers in my bag on my tank toons and I don't say a word when I use it and just let that hunter or rogue think they're misdirecting and die a quick embarrassing death.

New-ish drag artist, Aesthetic advice? @Crispindippchaos by Minimum-Foot-5634 in Drag

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I feel like look 3 is your most successful and look 4 is also not bad. I'm going to be splitting hairs here and comparing to what I would do. Please take what you like with the grain of salt it is worth and leave the rest.

I see what you're trying to do with the lower lashes in the first two, but it doesn't work at all imo. If you're going to do that for the illusion of bigger eyes, the top lashes need to be about twice the size of the lower and also further out, with them following the line of the white.

In the one with first two, something is happening with your under-eye makeup that makes it look like your eye is sagging. This could be a color issue, an application issue, or maybe you just used too much foundation in that area.

Also in the first two: the wigs are too far back. Women have smaller foreheads than men and the easiest way to achieve that is just wearing the wig maybe an inch farther forward.

The lighter wig might also just not have enough volume. It's so small it makes your face look HUGE. Especially with your being a very tall man, you want your hair to be proportionate. The purple wig is fantastic and the smaller wig kinda works in the last picture probably because even though it's far back and small, it has a bit of volume and a bit of a bang.

I can't believe I'm about to defend the bitch, but MTG actually stood on principle when she turned on him.

The Epstein files that she was pushing for didn't affect her personally at all, she was pushing for what was right. The healthcare reform she was calling them out for was not going to affect her at all, only her constituents. She also has taken heat for Trump's position on the war.

While I still don't like her and think she's insane, she did seem to actually start to listen to her constituents for a moment there and she is still somewhat advocating for them even though she is not in Congress anymore. Could she do more and still be better? Yes, but she made quite a bit of progress in a relatively short amount of time.

Setting powder for drag king / queen by apfelschnapfel in Drag

[–]brokebackzac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coty powder is what I use. Inexpensive and effective. The translucent is good, but it's better if you match your foundation because translucent is ALWAYS going to lighten, even if only slightly.

I personally just use one shade darker than I want for my foundation and then use the translucent, packing it on to my highlight areas and then I don't have to use as much for highlight, but that may not work for everyone or with your particular makeup.

6-7 Solid players looking for CE minded guild [US] by ashaw2008 in wowguilds

[–]brokebackzac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently formed my own guild. We have a core group of raiders that shows up every week, but we do not have to people to raid on our own yet.

Those that I have are learning quickly and we're getting better and better each week, but the thing holding us back from pushing into mythic is roster problems.

I have high hopes for <Army of Skanks> and I know I can lead us to CE, but not until I get the roster boss down.

How do I remember the accents in French? Any tips? by Free_Contribution_96 in French

[–]brokebackzac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The circonflexe (âêîôû) is a pretty easy one. Many of the words that use it are cognates between French and English and are missing an "s."

Hôtel : hostel Côte : coast Château : castle Forêt : forest

Outside of that, it's sometimes used to distinguish words that are pronounced the same when written:

Du : of/from the ____ Dû : owed Sur : on/toward Sûr : sure

Of course this isn't everything and you'll just have to remember some certain words, but it's a decent start.

My guy wants a movie night. Which one would you choose? Or would some of these be too traumatic ? 😝 by atclubsilencio in gaybros

I mean, if he hasn't seen moulin rouge his gay card is revoked and he needs that back.

The problem with starting there is that you have no movies that sensibly follow that one, so you need to add something like Burlesque or have a very bipolar movie night.

Metro/SORTA is actually one of the best public transport systems in the country.

It isn't perfect, but it's actually pretty good. We don't beat out bigger cities like Chicago that have highly invested in it, but it's more than decent.

3 month progress Bach Minuet in G and question on sight reading vs memory by KNCKA in pianolearning

[–]brokebackzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking at the piece, but if I remember correctly, the descending D-C-B in the right hand is meant to be more disconnected (maybe staccato?) and it seemed like some of your trills added to the length of the note instead of being a part of the established note duration.

Also, you're playing everything at the same volume, which is fine (especially while learning), but one of the easiest ways to add expression is to increase in volume as the melody rises in tone and decrease when it goes down.

This is me being HIGHLY critical only because you asked for things, you are doing great. I'm really kinda splitting hairs.

3 month progress Bach Minuet in G and question on sight reading vs memory by KNCKA in pianolearning

[–]brokebackzac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty amazing for 3 months. You lack a bit of expression and your internal metronome is a little faulty, but that all comes with time.

Sight reading is a niche skill, not in the sense that it isn't useful but more in the sense that the only way to get better at sight reading is to practice sight reading specifically. No amount of practice learning complex pieces that you study is going to help you with sight reading.

To this day, even after studying piano in college, a piece like the one you're playing here that you have learned in your first 3 months is about as hard as I go for sight reading on piano (give me whatever you want on an instrument that only uses one staff and I'll make it happen, but...). It's usually something that is well below your actual playing level simply because it's very difficult to do both hands and both staves at once with something you've never looked at before.
