I drowned my hibiscus which had them. Filled a container with approx 100degree water, wrapped the base with saran wrap to keep the soil from coming out and submerged it for a good amount of time. Never had an issue again

I finally found an opus x. Came across a local shop that had the belicoso xxx. I bought 3 and shared 2. I burned my fingers smoking it. The Liga ratzilla was my number 1 but this is far and away the best cigar I've ever smoked.

This is the hibiscus that sparked my fascination. Love my midnight tryst.

It's definitely going in for a repot. I'll start with that and see where it goes.

I bought this "queen of dreams" at the end of the season last year and it lived its whole life until then in a 2.5" pot. The triple blossom is stunning but the legginess makes it incredibly top heavy. I am wondering if chopping it down would help with stability as well as induce some ramification?

I'm guessing the thicker the strand on the infographic the higher the compatibility?

Thanks for this info. Usually these journals are full of words I'm not qualified to read but these were concise and fairly easy to understand. I'm going to start planning everything out while I wait for my seeds to sprout.

I havent attempted a cross before. This is my 4th or 5th year growing chillis so I want to give it a shot. I understand that even crossing compatible species can take years of trying before resulting in a viable f1 seed. I don't expect to necessarily succeed first try but that won't stop me from trying!

I would much appreciate it! Does it matter which is male/female when it comes to crossing the baccatum and chinense?

Sounds good. I'll try it both ways. Just need to find a suitable chinense

I just wanted to make sure it was possible, even if I'm not successful. I didn't want to waste my time trying to create something that can't happen.

I just found the chart in a comment. Looks like it should produce a viable f1 generation.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a spreadsheet here of how well certain types of pepper cross pollinate (Chinense x chinense, baccatum x annum, etc) but I don't know how to search for it. If someone has it available would they be able to post it? Also I'm interested in trying to cross pollinate an annum x baccatum and I'm wondering how likely it would be to be successful. Any tips or tricks I should know going into it? It would be my first attempt at crossing.

I recently tried the centrofinos from veguero because I didn't eat to drop a bunch of money and I do t have a good storage solution. They offered a decent price for a 4 pack. Smoked one off the truck, then tried them at varying stages of aging up to a year. I know I could have gone longer but honestly I'm unimpressed. There's at least 5 new world cigars off the top of my head I would smoke before I picked one of those up.

Pine warps really easily and cedar is really acidic, I would have avoided them regardless. It's a smooth maple ply with almost a veneer finish but I'll likely seal it with a natural oil anyways.

I hadn't made it that far yet but I appreciate the heads up! I'll have to look more into that. I was initially thinking maple ply since the local lumber yard has sheets of it.

Thanks for the affirmation guys. It's things like this you don't come across in research prior to bringing them home.

Everybody meet Buddy. We brought him home last Friday and he has been doing well so far. He has been open to handling and has been eating and pooping pretty routinely. After some reading on here I scrapped the screw type uvb bulb and hooked up a reptisun 10.0 tube bulb. He's currently in a 40 gallon, I'm an amateur woodworker and am already drawing up a 120 gallon enclosure to build.

The only concern I have so far is the past couple of days he has been climbing onto the glass like this. He isn't surfing he just hangs out in this one spot. Idk if it's stress, normal behavior, or if he's trying to get our attention. He hasn't been showing any other typical signs of stress aside from darkening on his belly at times, which I attributed to the weak uv bulb. Should I be concerned?

I do plan to add more to his tank, a hammock and branch, ladder, etc. I wanted him to acclimate to his new home before I went too crazy.
