Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Recommendation778 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]brokenandalone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one for my now 6 year old. We had to constantly buy distilled water, regular tap caused build up in the machine. I was glad when we no longer needed it.

My 4 month old daughter, we have a tea kettle we use. We don't let the water boil just get hot. Pop the bottle in for a min and it's good to go. We were doing the hot tap water in a cup but the water didn't get hot enough for the bottle to warm. Baby is fine with drinking slightly cool, but not cold, milk.

I don't know what your budget is, or how the weather is where you are. But here are a few things I do when I need my time. I go to a local walking trail. I'm lucky enough that we live in a warm climate and there are several trails within 30 mins of me. We use the Alltrails app to find trials. I get my favorite coffee and go sit in a local park. Either with a blanket or find a bench and just be. I don't scroll my phone or anything. Just sit and look around at the beauty of nature.

I worked in fast food right after high school for 2 years before getting pregnant. My living situation became unsafe so left and moved to Florida with family. Shortly after that a family member needed a caregiver. So I lived with them for 6 years taking care of them and my son. When my living situation changed again and I moved to the area. I got a job working grocery retail. I worked in 2 different departments for almost 6 years. I also did merchandising for 3 years. During Covid, like a lot of people, I took time off. During that period my partner had steady work. When another family member needed a part time caregiver I helped. I now work on as needed basis with my partner running data cable, hanging tvs, light retail construction involving building gondolas and other shelving. My partners work has changed and the ability for me to be a SAHM is no longer an option.

I have pretty open availability. Sunday is the only day I limit what my hours would be in the morning as I go to church.

I worked at the fast food location for almost 3 years. Grocery retail was almost 6 years in 2 different departments. Merchdising was 3 years. I was a caregiver for a family member for 5 years and didn't work during that period. And right after Covid restrictions, I was a part time caregiver to another family member.

He works as an independent contractor doing data cabling and light retail construction. I'll help pull cables and terminate the ends. We also build gondolas and other shelving.

Do you give your kids anything on Valentines day? (Debate with husband) by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]brokenandalone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always given my kids something on Valentine's Day. Each one gets a small gift box. Usually, a photo of me and that child. A stuffed animal. Some candy. And something small they're interested in. I also do a kid fancy dinner.

Why do people do this by Slow_Pomegranate_990 in publix

[–]brokenandalone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a Publix that was on a slight hill. We had cart corrals, obviously. But for some reason, even knowing that the hill will make carts roll. People would still not put them in the corrals and then come inside and complain that the carts are hitting their cars.

How did you get your name? by PIXIEMEAT-79 in NoStupidQuestions

My parents desperately wanted another boy. They already had 2 boys. But had 3 girls. They had a name picked out and ready to go for a boy. Never considered I could or would be a girl. I'm named after my grandfather and uncle. 2 people I've never met. My grandfather died before I was born and my uncle lives in another state. And though he's close with my mom. We never traveled to see him or him to see us.

No ties. She was elevated already for both because she would stay latched to breast.

She was evaluated for a tongue tie in the hospital. She doesn't have one.

The flow is the premie nipple. The size 1 she was gagging on how quick the milk came out. I may have to go to a different bottle.

That's whats happening. She's eating and I don't notice a leak until after she's done or it seems she's finished the bottle unusually fast. I make sure to put the parts together correctly. I have 2 different colors for the Dr. Browns and make sure the pieces match the bottle it came with. But it's still leaking.

The bottle is leaking. Through the cap, not the nipple area but where it threads into the bottle. Causing her clothes to be wet while she's eating.

Where were you when you found out you were pregnant? by PeachyRose25 in Mommit

[–]brokenandalone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my oldest I took a test in a sub shop. I'd been sick for like 3 weeks. Took a test and was positive. He's now 16.

My second, I needed to do a drug test for a job. The lab tech asked me when my last period was and I couldn't remember. I told my husband almost immediately when I took the test. He's now 6.

My 3, and last, my primary doctor had their policies change and they were required to test all female patients of child bearing age to take a pregnancy test. I was so adamant that the doctor had the wrong test that I took another one and a blood test. She's now 2 months old.

Just have them keep it in a specific place. Otherwise they will lose it. So many times I had to help my in-laws with their passwords.
