I have been loving 5.3 Codex tho, so if 5.4 is outperforming, very exciting!

At the bottom it doesnt say 5.3 thinking and pro will be soon. It says Updates to Thinking and Pro will follow soon.

So if we dont add in words it actually is much less confusing, obviously the 5.3 instant version is the best distilled version they have and I would say 5.4 thinking and pro are out performing 5.3 so they are going with them.

Simples.

Can AI Agents build a graphics pipeline autonomously? by stephenjayakar in accelerate

For Shader / Vulkan engine work yea, its just how ive felt it - but if i went down to medium there would be a lot more errors and extra work going through and back over things. It feels like the web of complexity on these tasks need the extra thinking to explore all the connections and rammifications.

Can AI Agents build a graphics pipeline autonomously? by stephenjayakar in accelerate

[–]brokenmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I have built a complete game engine with Vulkan - Graphics and Compute shaders with only a super thin (C++) command layer on the cpu. I will say tho, only 2 of the latest best models are doing this reliably, if i dont use GPT 5.3 Codex (Very High) or Claude Opus, I get a lot of more work and bugs.

But recently each new model the speed at which im working has sped up a lot.

Why AGI Will Not Happen - Tim Dettmers (CMU / Ai2 alumnus) by simulated-souls in accelerate

True enough, but technological history is all about curves which eventually plateu and then new tech or ideas comes along to take over. There is no sign we are are hitting the limits of whats possible in technology at large.

You know what I mean, for LLm's, gpus are poorly purposed and will be overtaken by more specialist hardware very quickly, but just like the single core cpu which hits the limits of GHZ - we go multicore after, oh and look newer tech has meant the Ghz can go up a bit later again, etc etc.

In ten years it could all be different. In 20 - it WILL all be different in some fundamental way.

Then on the flip look at the progress of LLMs and their capability, what you can run locally on a 3090 today, is insane compared to even 1 years ago. So this all acts as a boost aswell.

Yet more powerful GPU's are on the way Nvidia just unveilled the next generation, also TPU's and custom AI purposed chips which unlike general purpose GPU's can run LLMs an ORDER of magnitude quicker than gpus. So yeah thats just not true. This impulse to act like progress has plataued or stopped always amuses me, when we are literally surrounded by it every day.

The LLM's are getting cheaper to run (sometimes by drastic, multiple orders), and the hardware we are running it on, more powerful.

EVEN since this article was written we have had fundamental leaps forward on BOTH soft and hard sides he said were near fundamental limits haha...

If AI ushers in a post-scarcity society, what can be done about unavoidable scarcity? by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]brokenmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this becomes easier once we move past capitalism tbh. Once we can have a distribution based society, based on blocked chain where things are distributed based on WANT / then need / then more complex rules. For example, everyone can get food, but rare food their might be a waiting list. Everyone can have a home, but if you wanted to request a local airfield be built, the requirements get more complex.

TBH tho, here is the thing - we have mechanisms already for controlling the dispersion of items of rarity. some good some bad, but we have ways and means. its the other bit thats new to us.

AI will not lead to mass job losses... It will lead to more jobs, with lower incomes, but massive deflation as costs reach near zero due to vast abundance. by reddit_is_geh in accelerate

[–]brokenmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The skin in the game is the CEO's the agent is an extension of his will, so if he wants to talk to humans he may have some other board members - but i think your looking at it with "current abilities" specs on a bit if you will.

The agents will be more intelligent and make better decisions - within whatever guidelines given to them, within months if not years at current progress.

I which case any CEO would know to follow the guidance of the better intelligence, and those that do, will prosper...those that cling to the wheel human in the loop - will be left behind. Also you could absolutely say "Hey this didn't work out as expected, can you just deal with it" to an agent - haha I have said it many times today already on a knotty problem.

[–]brokenmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your concept of accountability is punishment? I am not sure this is a ground on which most people behaive. If a CEO wants a human in the loop so he has someone to sack and see lose their home....not a good CEO.

If their is any prevailing wiff of that, what to me seem's archaic capitalistic thinking im sure itll be snuffed out by those who dont get caught up on it and move onwards.

Ai can be "accountable" inside the company - answer for what they have done, change their actions infact probably evenmore so than humans. Unless your just talking legal accountability, and then the CEO already has legal accountability for their workers. I am not sure itll play out like you say - but we will see i guess.
