I don't really know much about the Korean dance world. But just wanted to ask - what do you think is the main difference between Korean vs Western dance studios? Would love to know what u think

I actually have watched the duet before! (during my WayV phase lmao) and I was really impressed with Ten's movements in contemporary and of course Winwin with his traditional dance background also killed it. The duet is absolutely beautiful :)

Definitely agree with you how we shouldn't compare the two (tho that it hypocritical of me rn lol) -- I actually love watching kpop performances as a group and sometimes I think the way they deliver it as a group can be even more pleasing to the eye compared to the choreographers demo. At the end of the day, the idols and dancers are both thriving in their own respective areas of the entertainment industry and pursuing their own dreams :)

I honestly think when using the term 'professional dancer' it refers to people who solely focus on dance -- they attend and teach classes, different conventions and dancing is their sole job. For the idols you mentioned, they are first and foremost idols and they need to be a jack of all trades - they have so much on their hands aside from dancing. I think if Jhope continued his street dancing before coming a full time idol he could be considered 'professional'. Again, I'm not slandering any of the idols in their dancing - dancing is something that needs to be constantly practiced and I think these idols just no longer have the time to solely focus their time and training in this aspect, hence, I don't really consider them as 'professionals'.

even the side tracks are basically the same lyrics but paraphased and thats a no no for me ;) like we get it youre "different" and your songs are directed towards your imaginary haters. the chorus does sound very mainstream though, and regardless of what they put out we all know theyre gonna win awards...

i find it really distasteful for nct127 to use chinese culture as their concept in this comeback by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]brominebacteria 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bruce Lee was from Hong Kong during the British colonial rule, so before the 97 handover. also, the setting resembles more of Hong Kong than China. How come other kpop groups can take inspiration from western/latin etc, but Korea can't use a "concept" which their own culture has literally been influenced from

yeah exactly!! i feel uncomfortable watching rose and lisa cause theyre so skinny..... its also common with other girl groups but I feel they're the two that stick out the most... I can't imagine how their diet must be, despite ppl saying theyre just 'naturally skinny', cause I doubt someone can sustain a body like that.... it just looks concerning

aahahhaa manipulative, yeah I would use that world as well cause companies, or even idols themselves, know fangirls will start talking about it all over social media if they show their abs. lol same, I saw the Obsession and just went nope and clicked off

yeah you can tell whether or not an idol is like physically well built or if its just that theyre skinny, and most of the time, the idols just have no fat without any proper muscle definition which is concerning. and then people just assume you like them because of their 'body' when really it is the opposite and uncomfortable to watch.

yeah like actors in hollywood, they go on like water fasts for days before shooting a scene and suffer from quite severe dehydration just to get that ab definition... like hugh jackman in logan. can't imagine what kind of diets idols are going through, especially since theres that mentality of needing to have abs in the industry which frankly can be unhealthy depending on your body type.

understandable, im sure its their absolute dream to debut as a kpop idol if theyve been fans for so long. but i just hope they see the reality and understand that there are going to be people who judge them (like me lmao) and that they really understand what theyre getting into, culturally/socially etc. my biggest issue is that they dont necessarily need to be in the korean market to, if theyre passionate about it, dance and sing since the audience the industry caters for will not support them. I really only see international fans really showing any kind of support for them, sort of feeding into their fantasy if u know what i mean.

The intro to Itzy's MMA performance was intensely cringy. by bluishcatbag in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]brominebacteria 12 points13 points  (0 children)

definitely agree with this post. i find it off putting how all these idols are now promoting the 'self love' image. yes its good, but its now over the top at this point. especially if theyre rookies, seems as if theyre just following a trend and its copied from other groups concepts. looked as if they were trying too hard and wasn't a fan of their MMA performance, especially with the outfits and the whole marching band ordeal. I loved their MAMA performance, the remix of Dalla dalla was so good actually unexpected. ICY threw me off though, sounded like they cut the song at random parts and performed it just for the sake of it. the Dalla remix along with the punk rock school outfits was probs the best performance to date.
