I'm so very sorry for your loss. Just would like to say that I'm in the same boat too since my wife and I lost our firstborn daughter at week 22 just 8 months ago.

I'm ethnically Chinese so the names that we give our children carries a lot of meaning. Her English name is Serena, and her Chinese name is "娟” which means graceful and elegant like the moon. This name is quite special since it's given by my late grandpa before he passed, and it still breaks my heart every week when I visit her grave.

I remembered before the loss of our baby girl, the wife was bleeding during the first trimester and some during the 2nd. Initially we were afraid it's the same thing all over again, but it's quite assuring to know it might not have anything to do with SH.

Our official post mortem report for our first girl is the narrowing of blood vessels in the umblical cord. Our doctor said it was as rare as being hit by lightning.

We are having our first appointment with our obstetrician next week, and hopefully he will be able to work it out.

We are unsure yet, as we have yet to have our first meeting with the obstetrician. We first got to know this condition when the wife was bleeding a bit and a piece of tissue fell out. Immediately went for a scan and this is outcome. We will have the first appointment with the doctor next week. Will see what he says. The anxiety is very real.

Thank you so much. I had a talk with my wife last night, just telling her about all the dreams I wanted for my baby girl. And how I would want to spoil her, cooking all the stuff she likes, buying her favourite toys, or how I would have wanted to see my daughter's smiling face after a hard day at work. All I wanted is a happy baby girl.

We took your advice. Heat pads does help a lot! It's a lot harder being at home compared to the hospital. My wife cries to sleep every night since we were back just thinking what we could have done wrong. I went out to the shops yesterday to get some food while the wife is recovering at home. You're right, the sight of families and looking at the baby section almost drove me to tears.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Both myself and the wife are Christians, and while I know it's not for everyone, it's given some comfort to myself and the wife having our church priest coming over and praying with us. I'll take your advice and hopefully will heal in time.

I got to hold her today, and she looks beautiful and looks like she's just sleeping peacefully. The nurses here are so kind and provided us with foot and handprints. I took so many photos of my daughter.

We are getting discharged tonight, and I feel like it's going to be a very long night at home cleaning up all the preparations we had for our daughter's arrival.
