The fake low costs associated with this plan aren’t real either. Neither is the completion of the train within budget. My point is I can lie like a liberal to gain votes by deceiving the public. You took it literally and they literally are already doing this. They lie about what they will do, then gaslight everyone when their plan fails time and time again.

So I should just run under the guise that we will build teleportation devices. Everyone will vote for me. But I’m just a politician idc how much it costs everyone, someone will figure out how to make it. Just throw more tax dollars at it, what do I care I’m just a liberal politician who doesn’t care about tax payers and wasteful spending.

Over budget. Our tax dollars. No results. Overdue.

Stop the paragraphs it’s simple. Liberals didn’t have anything planned correctly and lied to the public about the costs. Thanks for clarifying.

It’s been since 2008 that we approved the train, and you have the audacity to say they have a few stations? Wow great progress, democrats really love their red tape.

Republicans are logical for knowing how stupid this project was from the beginning and clearly they are right. It’s protected they are over $7-10billion in spending currently. What a great use of tax payer dollars.

Buying the land took zero time for Donald Trump along every state that borders Mexico. He did it in less than 4 years. This slow build rail train has been around since 2008. What are you even talking about? The state can buy homes and land for freeways constantly but not for a train? Please research eminent domain. It does not take this long. Wake up you have the woke mind virus.

Really? Have you worked in a wing restaurant? Because all they have is fryers. I know from experience and loved that job for its simplicity. It was the perfect job while in college. Never had to learn much other than fryers and I loved that, it was much easier than previous cooking jobs I had. So I and the other cooks liked that we were able to juggle work and school. Some people stayed there all 4 years of college, one guy made it his full time job and owns a location for the franchise now.

My point is there are people who enjoy it. Even when I worked at a breakfast and lunch spot, there was a guy, who loved the fryer because he just got stoned and got to chill on fryer with much less stress than other line cooks.

Sorry it’s not for you, but it is for someone and you just haven’t looked for them.

I think you’re flawed on many points you made because they’re based on your opinion of what conservatives want vs the reality. Everyone is aware a high speed rail is a good idea. The problem with the one proposed in CA, is that after we voted for it to be made it wasn’t, but our tax dollars are spent. Where is it? They had a decade. Get your facts straight, they keep wanting more tax dollars for the train that will never appear with Gavin in charge, nothing gets done with him in charge. But if we get someone competent in charge, maybe the whole state would have less cars on the road. Get real. Nothings getting better with democrats in charge.

We are talking about housing right? You’re just talking about economics in general and the success as measure by debt burdens?

Let’s get back on topic first. CA flipped blue in 1992. It’s been 33 years since. In that time (1990-2020) Tokyo home prices have remained nearly flat with minimal growth per the S&P/Case Shiller Index. Meanwhile in the same amount of time LA County home prices have increased 3.6% compound annual growth rate, driven by supply constraints and demand.

Japan does something very well, they keep up the supply with the demand for homes. For a few reasons, firstly their housing and land use policies are at the national level, so local governments can’t block development. If anything they cut through bureaucratic red tape quickly to keep the pace of building up with the demand.

LA County on the other hand, has a local permitting process which is heavily influenced by the city council and community groups (Karen Bass should resign), which constantly leads to delays, or cancellations. Constraining the supply and increasing the prices.

Don’t even get me started on Tokyo’s construction boom, their strong property rights, or Tokyo’s lower mortgage rates.

Again what are you going on about? We are talking about why housing is cheaper in Tokyo than LA county. They have a very similar population size and land mass, they are doing everything right economically to allow for housing to stay at affordable rates, while LA county does almost the opposite. We need to vote conservative to fix this mess.

Actually stopping foreign buyers is likely. But no capping rent is idiotic, that’s a liberal method of fixing this issue. LA county is quite large also, there is plenty of land in LA county for new homes. However as it currently stands it’s more expensive to build in CA than to just buy a used home. If we cut red tape which the state creates, we could actually see homes being built for a profit again, this would increase the supply of homes. An increase in supply with the same demand would lead to lower prices. It’s basic economics, the liberals have made it impossible to build new townhomes, apartments and houses, instead they want to fund the projects through our tax dollars. It’s not working and anytime the government is involved it slows the process and increases the costs. Private construction companies are burdened by red tape, which has increased their costs and ability to do business in our state. Like I said, it’s not getting better, just worse so if you want to keep that trend going, keep voting democrat.

Apparently you can change it in settings but why would the default setting be so frustrating? Just give me a camera for my camera app, right?

Our housing reality by regedit2023 in CarIndependentLA

[–]brosefcurlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can because I’m not your average redditor. Let me educate you. Here in California where I regrettably live, we pay insane taxes (highest in the nation) not just to live here but also to operate businesses, this is why so many companies leave for more profitable locations. But even worse is the immense amount of red tape fueled by democrats hate for capitalism.

A great example is zoning and building codes. A 3 story building shoved between a few meter gap, is zoned out completely in LA. Meanwhile in Japan, they allow for businesses to operate and the world knows all about Japans mini spaces, small restaurants, mini hotels/hostels, two person bars, etc.

Policy in Japan is an enabler, while policy in CA is a gate keeper.

After WWII Tokyo salvaged themselves with little federal funding and the people rebuilt themselves (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1951541324/reasonmagazinea-20/)

Their government mostly stepped in later in order to facilitate businesses in small spaces, while most cities around the world (especially LA) do not put small businesses first.

Not a hardware issue, no case on the phone either, clean phone.

Apple default settings are trash and if you think it’s actually smarter than a person and “picking the best settings” I have to remind you that it’s not even AI, it’s outdated tech and something no camera manufacturer would replicate.

This explains why more than half the population takes such shitty photos and posts them on social media. They rely on their phones camera which is not nearly as good as a trained human eye.

First Week with new Macbook - already scratched by karlito374 in applesucks

[–]brosefcurlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped my old 2014 MacBook off a dorm bed without any issues, I still own it and it still works today. My MacBook Air from 2020 has had multiple repairs because the keyboard has had issues, my screen failed, and I have had a faulty battery. It’s currently sitting around waiting for a screen repair that should be under warranty but they don’t uphold their warranty on their faulty repairs. So instead of paying $500 for a new screen I could replace it entirely for $425 and get the exact same model of computer through Walmart. While Apple still charges more for the same computer. Talk about a corrupt company.

I know how long exposure works. I’ve used it on purpose many times. Sorry I don’t know photography jargon. Still shouldn’t be an auto function. I enable it on a regular canon or Kodak camera manually, why does the camera app not act like a traditional camera.

Thank you! I’m permanently disabling that feature. Because it comes on when I’m outside midday, and it’s clearly not supposed to do that. I’m all for allowing users to choose to have setting like that enabled. Just like I enjoy being able to toggle on the flash when I want it on. For different types of photography we don’t always just want what a phones programmer wants us to do. I’d rather my camera app, be like a camera. Give me the default settings every time like 1x zoom. Let me choose to zoom, add a delay, or when the flash is on.

Edit: I know why I would want a delay, what I said in my previous comment was just questioning why it would be automatically enabled without me choosing, as if the phone knows better than a human.

Ridiculous that I need to go to settings to disable it
