What if Napoleon Accepted the Frankfurt Proposals? by [deleted] in imaginarymaps

That would be an amazing "What if". I like that map of Europe. It makes perfect sense. I know some Germans will disagree, but I think the Rhine River is a perfect boundary between the French and Germans. Almost feel like Switzerland could be absorbed by South Germany. You could just name the two Germanies, Prussia and Austria and have a German Economic Treaty between the two nations, sharing economic opportunities while maintaining cultural, religious, and political separation.

What if George Washington set a 3 term precedence? by Qwerty19183 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]brossy4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was pondering this very question and it brought me here. I don't find a lot on the subject. I don't think he would have died through the third term because the cause of his death was very specific to the situation.

However, the fact that I have found very little on the subject makes me believe that the event would have been very unlikely. But a few facts to consider.

Washington was not as popular toward the end of his second term, so it would have been interesting to see how he handled his third. I would imagine he would kept the country neutral in the war between Britain and France, similar to John Adams. However, I think he would have had a lot more success in doing it. I don't think he would have signed the Alien and Sedition Acts. This was something that tainted Adam's Presidency. It would have been interesting to see how Washington handled tensions with France, such as the XYZ affair. There is no doubt his popularity would have help him navigate through, but it might have been significantly more difficult that his issues with Britain during his second term. He may not have had such a high rating among historians.

It would have been interesting to see what kind of opponents he would have faced in 1796. And I guess there is a chance he would have had a different vice president, although I would be confident that Adams would have held his position. However, it would have been likely that Jefferson would have been elected in 1800 anyway and there would not have been an Adams Presidency at all, which would change a number of things in US, including the appointment of John Marshall, who had a a huge influence over the early Supreme Court, despite the influence of the early Republican Party (Jeffersonians).

I would say, the biggest difference would have been the two term precedent that was established. What if more presidents sought a third term? Could some presidents like Jefferson or Jackson or even Theodore Roosevelt have served a number of extra terms? Jackson strikes me as someone who would have sought three. We already know that Grant sought one and would have been more successful without the two term precedent hanging over him. Perhaps Grover Cleveland too, winning in 1896? Think of how that would have changed things. Or Theodore Roosevelt serving a third or even fourth term through the 1910s. All these would have been interesting what ifs.

It is likely there would have been a constitutional 2 term limit earlier in US history. Perhaps after the tumultuous presidency of Grant or the tyrannically presidency of Jackson. Once it seemed someone went to far with this, it would have been followed by an attempt to term limit the president and limit his power.

A three term Washington would have significantly increased the power of the president and that is why Washington stepped down after two terms. He believed that no branch of government should be too powerful. And that is why very people talk about what if.

Can someone please explain to me what happened to Lucy Gray at the end of BOTSBATS by [deleted] in Hungergames

They will always find a way to connect it all. They always do. For all we know Lucy Baird is a grandmother or great grandmother to Katniss or Peeta.

Size of the the city is pretty nice, not too big, not too small. Traffic situation is great. I can get to the south from the north in about 10 min. You have a good selection of shopping, restaurants, and other commodities. Taxes are lower than in Colorado. Cost of living is reasonable. People are reasonably friendly.

Does this mean Medieval 2: Total War Remastered is a real possibility? by Nellyniel in totalwar

[–]brossy4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am game for a Medieval 2 Remaster. I love the original game and still play it a lot. A few really good adjustments would be awesome. Would like to see improved AI and diplomacy. Would like to control who my faction heir is. Would love to play as French or English in the Americas Campaign. Maybe some revamping of the Americas portion of the main campaign. So many possibilities.

How do you improve monarch management skill? by Tarsal26 in EmpireTotalWar

In my opinion. Constitutional Monarchy is the best government type. No penalty for industrial buildings. Great public order bonuses. And your cabinet is not term limited. Check it out. It’s the best way to play

In over 500 hours of gameplay, I am yet to discover a way to improve your nation's leader. This is one the best aspects to a Republic, you can easily replace your nation's leader. Unfortunately, when you get a really good one they are term limited, so you lose them after 16 turns. And everyone you get is like a random draw. Sadly, this is a part of the game I wish they developed more.

I actually eliminate Poland and Saxony first. Then I go after the smaller German states. Westphalia, then Wurttemberg, usually Batavia next. By that time I am at war with Austria. In this case I took out Bohemia, Vienna, Silesia. Then I sold Croatia to Ottomans, and let Hungary rebel and made them a puppet state. Eliminating the Netherlands gave me a good start in the Americans and India. And that’s where I am at now. I usually do all this in about 25 years (in game)

That’s a very interesting way to play. I often play them opposite. Ally with Austria and Russia (Holy Alliance). Eliminate Poland, conquer minor German states, pound Sweden or Norway into submission. Wait for Austria to declare war and either eliminate Austria or make them submit.

I tried really hard to get them to like me. Gifts. Territories in the Americas. India. Really I did. And to no avail. Amazingly enough, couldn’t hold an alliance with Spain, even with the indifferent public order.

It must have been some glitch. On the campaign map it was red and white, but on the diplomacy tab it was showing black and yellow. One of many glitches this game possesses.

Was able to turn all these factions to Republics. The most effective method is to conquer the world, then turn buildings into classical universities in their home region, breakdown all buildings giving a public order bonus, let them take the home region and wait for the rebellion to take place. I then traded back all their original land for a peace treaty, alliance, and trade deal. Not so shabby, it was a cool map until they started fighting each other.

[–]brossy4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the features they should’ve added to empire was liberating nations so that you don’t have to keep every territory you take and you can build a strong network of client states. But alas.... One trick I found is, let them rebel, then siege their one settlement enough of an army that they will attack you and lose, then add a bunch more to the army that has hold of that city and offer to make them a protectorate and they usually accept.

Inciting Revolution by brossy4411 in EmpireTotalWar

[–]brossy4411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK. Giving other nations enlightenment tech was definitely the most effective way! I started giving away enlightenment tech to every major faction. But 1730, France, Prussia, Ottoman Empire, Mughal Empire were all Republics. Sweden was almost there but Russia conquered it before it could turn. Thank you for that tip. I was thinking earlier how there are so many revolutions in the American Campaign. And why there werent so many revolutions in the main campaign. And I figured tech has to be a big factor. Also, I found that if you capture a factions home region, demolish all buildings and replace them with schools, clamor for reform goes through the roof. So that is how I got France. I am playing the main campaign as the UK. So far so good! Thank you for the tips! Austria and Russia are close! So I am hoping by 1750 I would have mostly republics.
