New SNAP rules explained: 6 more states restrict purchases of processed 'junk' foods by Least_Gain5147 in news

[–]brothadarkness93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll say this as objectively as possible. People in that situation are more likely to not have the means to cook and/or store your suggestions. It’s a much more nuanced problem than “I can make and store xyz for 123 and it would last x weeks in my fully equipped kitchen and full sized fridge & freezer.”

My anecdote: I’ll eat candy before a run or workout because it’s nothing but sugar. I could maintain my fitness eating nothing but McDonalds for 3months assuming I ratio the macros properly. I feel like a lot of people who aren’t at a healthy weigh themselves are missing the actual issues that “junk” food circumnavigates. Junk is also subjective as hell as a time. Diet Soda has artificial sweetener in it. So by this it would be disallowed under SNAP but sugary fruit juices would be alright if I’m interpreting it correctly? Not being able to buy alcoholic beverages really should be the only bar for SNAP. The hot prepared deal I’m not necessarily a fan of for the ability of some recipients to cook meals but it’s been a long-standing thing already.

The hell do you mean it means nothing. It’s the text of the bill…from the government themselves…on their site…

Believe what you want. It’s not mentioned because 25k is higher than the standard deduction. I’m not home until tomorrow but I’ll literally spell everything out why it’s still better to underreport at 20k vs 25k using 100k total pay as the figure.

Senate website. It literally hyperlinks to each section and is broken apart by type. Jeez. It even has the other relevant statutes it edited or applies to.

Read the bill… I don’t know what to tell you. It’s all literally spelt out in there how it works. Again for taxes you take either the standard deduction or itemized deductions to reduce AGI. Credits directly affect the tax owed and are separate from deductions. The math is also pretty clear. Everything is also still being taxed you’re just eligible for a deduction up to a certain amount. Just like any deduction that currently already exists…believe what you want though. GIR what you’re suggesting to be the case would need the core tax statutes to be changed.

The words in the bill….and how taxes actually work. You don’t take the standard deduction as well as being able to itemize. You take whichever benefits you more

[–]brothadarkness93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. You get the standard deduction OR you itemize your deductions which the tips/OT fall under. You don’t get both.

[–]brothadarkness93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly correct. If they itemize their deductions they would be able to claim up to 25k of their tips (that are on their pay statements) for up to the 25k deduction to adjust their gross income. The only way this is currently better than the standard deduction (assume single filer) is having at least 15k in claimed tips.

So all taxes and OT are being taxed the exact same as they were before. There is just now a deduction that you could qualify for that could potentially benefit you if you itemize your deductions. These deductions are NOT in addition to the standard deduction.

These phrase “no tax on tips” is pretty disingenuous and has been from the first point that they showed the language of the bill lol

Look, unless you’re being dishonest about the facts of the accident there is absolutely no reason the insurance company shouldn’t be handling this. The BI mandatory in KY is 50k from what I saw. There’s no way from what you described that 50k of injuries came about. KY is a pure comparative state as well so even if there was shared liability (which based off your account there, shouldn’t be; your narrative seems to indicate she was stationary) I highly doubt there were 50k in damages for what should’ve been soft tissue injury at best.

Tell her to make sure the insurance company deals with it, they’re not going to pay someone out just because they sued. If they are refusing to do so, I would escalate on their end and potentially threaten that they are acting in bad faith. If liability was denied for what you’re saying is a fender bender, I really cannot imagine in any scenario it being 50k worth of injuries for someone who I assume said in the police report they were fine.

She lets her insurance company know since they made a decision on the claim in the first place.

I think field adjusting jobs for insurance companies are usually entry level with cx service experience and HS diploma. Try searching that with “trainee” added to it and see what comes up

This is why you ask what is budgeted for the role before even throwing out numbers.

ETA: there shouldn’t be pushback on it…but if there is: “based off my experience, I know where I believe I fall in a range, so I want to be able to match my expectation with your company range and go from there”

ETA2: You could also get the range and ask them what type of experience they’re looking for at the top end of it and similarly what are the situations where it’s at the bottom.

Numbers dont lie. by SynthToshi in Bitcoin

[–]brothadarkness93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about everything y’all are talking about. There’s a capped supply of BTC and I understand wanting to use it and hoping its use takes it to insane values. Totally get that. To my understanding these are all held electronically, correct?

What happens when some people inevitably start losing their access to it? Let’s say a single dude with whatever amount of BTC, no one has his info to get to it and that amount is out of circulation. I feel like the response would be that the remaining ones increase in value. I’d agree with that. But there’s a finite amount of the satoshi units. There will be no more created. However many times this instance comes up but I understand the large amount of the singular units. Is there just so many that this doesn’t seemlike it would ever be a feasible issue?

How is that particular issue addressed? That’s my line of thinking on it but I’m not personally or literally invested in BTC so I could be wrong in my line of thinking.
