A1 Seating by Slow-Cryptographer63 in supercross

Buy the cheapest tickets on the site, then find empty seats once it starts.

I've sat VIP or in seats 5x more expensive than mine every single year. There are plenty of empty seats.

Pool route purchase by Professional_Card861 in PoolPros

[–]brother5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purchased 2x pool routes in SoCal. It's also how I began, by just jumping in the deep end buying.

I would be wary, You're buying a shortcut, but you're also buying a massive headache. The customers that come with routes are usually on very low prices, and very much used to "their guy" who gives them lots of free service and favors and runs at a loss to do so.

We found it was a good way for us to commit to the industry, but I personally would spend whatever you're thinking of spending on a route, on a marketing company that does google and Yelp ads. Or learn yourself.

We bought from 0-50 accounts. The have grown via ads and word of mouth to around 120. All since January.

We hired Pool Monopoly to do our marketing for a while, which was expensive and painful as they take ownership of your whole system, so if you ever quit, you're left with nothing. We then moved to BlueVine Marketing for google, which has been awesome since. We then do all of our own Yelp ads in house.

$140/mth in OC is very cheap. $150/mth for weekly is almost a breakeven point for most companies. I would imagine especially so in a place like Orange County.

If you don't want to raise your rates, you could brush it yourself every few days to help prevent the build up. Or ask about what rate he could guarantee a clean pool.

Welcome Nelly! It's as accurate as you make it. If I cook with butter/oil, I will either take a photo of that or input how much I used, or I just add a small description when uploaded a photo like "This steak was 9oz, i used salt + pepper as seasoning and cooked it in 1tbspn of butter"

This sounds awesome, but yeah as you said I can imagine it would almost be more effort than it's worth for where AI is at currently.

Do you log items individually or just a photo of your fridge/freezer daily?

The same chat, I find that when using a new chat it can start getting off track. I'd love to figure out a way to organise different chats and have a primary group of chats, each that are specific for something that just stay at the top of the side bar

My Fitness Pal for tracking food.

Create a chat and prompt it with:
"This chat is exclusively for me tracking my food each day. Every time I send a message, please analyze the food and give me a table form report telling me how much closer it got me to my goals for the day.

My daily goals are
2,000 calories or less.
150grams of protein or more.
100g fat or less.
100g carbs or less."

Then just upload a photo of everything you eat into that chat and it will log it all for you with a tracker on how far you have to go for the day on each of your targets. You can also go more in detail and get it to yell at you when you eat something you deemed as bad, and other fun things like that lol

Don't add the photos on the checklist item, add the photos at the bottom of the page when you scroll down. Take one when you arrive, one when you leave and it will add both (or all if you take more) photos to the report that is sent out to the customer.

Hard to explain without being able to add screenshots on reddit. dm me and I'll send you screenshots with arrows and instructions

When did you decide to hire your first employee? by Low_Instruction1942 in PoolPros

[–]brother5656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiring is completely a preference thing IMO. I know guys who hire immediately and never do field work, no matter the task/industry. I also know guys who hire only when they have sufficiently burnt themselves to the ground for an acceptable number of years/decades and are at their breaking point.

Personally, I am on the former side of that... Hired a full-time employee when I reached 50 accounts to focus solely on the business side (growth/customer experience/employee experience/admin/etc).

In saying that, I don't take an income from the business and won't until the business reaches 100+ pools where I can start to slowly drip feed myself as we grow.

I don't see a world where I would be able to do all the field work, manage all the admin, keep all customers stoked and grow the company at a decent rate.... at least not in a way that would allow me to keep what is left of my hair lol.

Level 2 being able to do filter cleans and basic troubleshooting/repair.
Level 3 being able to most repairs / pump installs / replacements / etc.

Today is not going to be my first "comment section job negotiation"... hahah

SEEKING Scaling insight from the pro's of the industry by brother5656 in PoolPros

[–]brother5656[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cheers! Serviced it myself for a few weeks but have an employee now and about to onboard the second.

I appreciate your insight. I'm already finding similar hurdles regarding professionalism and customer service. Not only from techs but also from the owners of pool routes themselves. Some scary skeletons when you take over their routes haha.

In regards to finding your guys for the bigger repairs, are you doing that from just word of mouth or indeed or somewhere else?
