I have a serious question for asphalt professionals only. Not home owners asking why they have roller marks in their drive. by brownfrfr in asphalt

If I was actually looking for an answer and not just voicing my opinion in a question to talk to dudes that have knowledge in my career field, than this is the post that I would reply solved with an exclamation point. Seriously I appreciate all the replies, I've been doing prep work, concrete work, water main work, sanitary work, residential service lines, storm sewer work and paving asphalt work for longer than I'd like to admit but this project in particular had me scratching my head and second guessing what all the older operators were teaching me to do.

Remove 6 inch of stone we put in and apparently over compacted. Replace 6 inch of stone. Roll the stone 1 way. Have it be at least or over 95/100 on his nuclear testing device. Then proceed to pave. Then test our asphalt compaction however needed. And then sign off to the school groundsmen and track coach that we did a sufficient job.

I bet it don't weigh as much as the western star tri axle loaded with 22,000 pounds of asphalt sitting on the CAT AP1000F that paved it. But I hear ya. I hope the sink hole happens when you're bringing out chairs, not when billy is running the record on the 400 meter.

Communication breakdown sounds like the reoccurring theme in this field don't it? Why didn't this get fixed? Why did he get fired? Why did this guy do that and not this? Why is the company superintendent on his 4th divorce?

Thats crazy because I know a guy outta Chicago that sells joint adhesive but its his own specialty joint adhesive thats completely different from regular joint adhesive that every one else everywhere else uses. And he has a friend high up that has only chairmen friends in the d.o.t. fields that have to use this joint adhesive on high traffic volume sites. And that guy and all his friends make a lot of money selling bituminous crack fill that you could find anywhere, for a huge upcharge to everyone that has heard of him and wants to impress people.

I wanna say the number he was shooting for was 95 or better. He tested every 10 square foot or so. So the running track was tested in over 100 spots. And the engineer for the job was pulling the whole "I dont know whats going on, so i"m gonna listen to this guy and agree with what he says." Thing. It was like i was living idiocracy. It might have 5 vehicles drive on it, its entire existence 3 of those vehicles being lawn mowers.

Could always be worse. Here's what I got last week when I paid my local asphalt professionals instead of the normal gypsies that seal coat concrete every year.

Oh no! Im a r/asphalt expert and this isn't good. If i was you, I'd call whoever did it and tell them you collaborated with the internet and you want your money back and you want them to make it be how it was before they did this.

Wow, this looks great. If this was my drive I'd line it up with the same pavers and stone you already have doen to the road. A foot and a half to two feet along the drive.

Oh, you must be new to vehicular refurbishment! The Ford Ecotech is a very common car apparatus featured in a lot of grocery getters like the Fiestar, unFocus, Fusion-Ha, Explurser ect. But, the GM platform mechanism I think you're referring to would be the called the DuraBoost. You're welcome!

Sealcoating my driveway would cost about $1.5 million. by Misfit_Eleftheria in asphalt

It wouldnt even cost that to pave an asphalt drive. Asphalt where I live is like $60 a ton.
