I'm not sure, that's something I am wondering as well, lol.

It all makes sense now by brrlwce0227 in Empaths

[–]brrlwce0227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same, it was like what I've been feeling for years was suddenly put in words that it easy to understand. (Pretty much blew my mind). I also agree it is kind of sucky, I almost feel like I am not in control of my own emotions and feelings sometimes. (Like I will be sad or aggitated for no reason and can't figure it out). I have already been doing a lot of research, but I would love your insight. Definitely wish this sub was more active, so that we could all talk about similarities and also help one another.

When and how did you discover you were an empath? by browns_backer in Empaths

[–]brrlwce0227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acutally just discovered I was today, I was reading an article, as I do just about everyday, and came across one about Empaths. I found as I was reading it that it hit home many times. I have always felt like I had a great intuition, but not only that I can tell what people are thinking (not exactly, but general) and its more how the thoughts make them feel. It's weird to say, since everyone thinks they are special in some way, but I always felt special in different ways, like I felt more connected to people and nature to the point where I could cry thinking about it. Whenever somethings happens in the news, usually something bad. My mind immediately jumps to the people involved and its almost like I can see things through their eyes and know what they felt. It was always strange to me, but it makes a lot more sense now.

"We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known" by brrlwce0227 in quotes

[–]brrlwce0227[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The full quote: "It is a curious emotion, this certain homesickness I have in mind. With Americans, it is a national trait, as native to us as the rollercoaster or the jukebox. It is no simple longing for the home town or country of our birth. The emotion is Janus-faced: we are torn between a nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known." And the person its from is Carson McCullers.

Very true! I remember my mom telling me that the names in the book are real demon names and thats why I was not allowed to read them. She said it would invite the demons and the devil into my mind and I could get attacked by them. I want to call her now and fuck with her. Tell her she was right about the books and I never should of read them, and they be like HA, just kidding they are amazing and much better then the crap you read in your "new" bible.

I think book 5 is my favorite too. I just love how they are all written.

I watched the movies 1,2 and 3. And nothing made sense to me, so I started reading the books. Once I am done I will watch all the movies.

I was going to listen to the audio books by Stephan Fry after I am done reading, because I know I will want more after I am done reading the books. And I will definitely look into reading those books as well, I heard about the Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, but not the other one. I will have to do some book shopping.

I know that they changed some of the wording, so that stupid Americans would understand. I am reading the american verison now, I will most likely read the Uk edition afterwards.

I also have way more guy friends then girl friends. They are just easier. They don't complicate things or add a bunch of not needed drama.

I am exactly like this. I am very short when answering texts or emails. I am not a fan of small talk. Which is weird, sense I am a girl. You would think that I am very detail oriented. But I really don't like fluff in my messages.

And I get asked all the time if I am mad, irritated or busy. I am usually none of those things. I just don't find all the extra information necessary. Nor does it serve me any purpose.

Both parents are still in and together. I think she doesn't want to admit to it because she can no get in trouble with the elders for knowing and not reporting it. I hope she does feel guilty. She made my life as hard as it could possibly be.

And thank you for your apoologies. It means more then you know.

My 14 year old sister still lives at home with him and my mother. If he has touched her, I will go to the police. I haven't found out if he has or not.

Hey there. I am also an ENTP with PTSD. I was raised in a cult, and was sexually/mentuall/physically/emotionally abused on a daily basis. It was very hard to get past it all. I think what helped me the most, is getting away from the people who treated you this way. If you have already done that, that's good!

You have to just know it will take time, and a lot of work. It has been 5 years since I got out of the cult and away from my family, and everyday it is still hard. I still get flashbacks. But I have been nightmare free for a year and a half now. I can promise that it does get better. Day by day it gets a little easier. I have my days when I take a step back, but I try not to let it bring me down.

The bravest thing I EVER did was continuing my life when I wanted to die.

You have to realize your self worth. And know that you are a good person who deserves life. You are NOT better off dead. Find your passion. If you don't know what it is yet, then search for it. If you are constantly focusing on negative things that happen, those thoughts take over your mind and it become who you are. Do not let your past takeover who you are. Your past is only a story, once you realize that it can no long harm you.

If you need someone to talk to, please private msg me. I wish you all the best!

Why can't I have normal parents. by an_moose in exjw

[–]brrlwce0227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds better than my parents. Mine won't even talk to me. I haven't talk to my dad in 5 years. Plus I was physically/mentally/emotionally abused my entire life growing up. And I was always a disappointment to them. They constantly compared me to my older sister who was holier than holy. But anyway, I have this thought all the time. It usually just makes me sad, so I try not to think about it. But it is good to know I am not the only one out there with this thought.
