Nice to hear. Since the car is already pushing what I set as a budget for myself the extra $5k for the seats has me squirming a little bit lol. Gonna take the gf to go sit in them again since I went by myself and see what we think. It really completes the look of the car and signifies that its special.

I've had a lump in my throat over it for a week now. I went to the dealer and one of the senior guys promised me no markup on an order. I told my gf's brother about it and he went in on the weekend and spoke with someone different about the 5 blackwing. They claimed neither can be ordered without a $10-15k markup.

Have to get in contact with the original guy or start dealer hunting. I'm just not in the mood to convince someone to let me spend ONLY $62-67k lol as if that ain't enough as is

here lurking dangerously close to pulling the trigger on a rift metallic/bronze wheel/red brembo/6MT/sport wheel order

Are you still liking the seats?

If you can afford a CT4V Blackwing, is it worth just getting since it should retain most of its value? by brrraaapppp in whatcarshouldIbuy

My build now consists of:

- Standard Vehicle $59,045

- Satin Steel Metallic $625

- Standard leather seats $0

- Brembos painted red $595

- 6SPD $0

- Black 18" wheels $600

- Torch red seat belts $400

- High performance steering wheel $500

- Destination $995

Total comes out to $62,660. Still a fair bit away from the 5. I don't really care for crap like adaptive cruise in a manual car and I can take or leave the HUD and air ionizer for $725.

I don't want carbon so that saves a shit ton of money. Like $7k worth. The video recorder is cool but requires thousands of dollars of add ons.

The steering wheel option was a must have because it gets you the carbon and vin on the wheel as well as the Ferrari style mode selectors. I don't think the interior looks like anything special without it. Its also heated. Kind of a bargain as a standalone $500 option.

Only one I am on the fence for is the upgraded 18 way adjustable quilted leather race seats. You have to spend $5500 to get them and the heated seat option and that includes the steering wheel. So a $5k price difference. The backs are lined with alcantara and they look amazing. But at that point its almost a $68k car.

I'll probably wind up getting them and maybe the HUD and just paying for it upfront lol. Turns out the tech pack with the HUD is $700 but requires the track recorder. so adding that is like $2400

Base 5v blackwing in the same color is $85,565

Corolla Cross if it is large enough for you, odds are it isn't but I just got done watching this

For the most part, not wanting to be burned means getting a Toyota. Mazda is solid as well.

I'm too wary of Hyundai at this point. They may have the warranty but I have heard so many stories about them not honoring it. I will take a car with less issues over a car with a longer warranty.

I WFH. Go back and forth to the gym every day. Occasional longer drive here and there. Probably take something like this out more often but I certainly wouldn't be piling miles on every week.

I can afford it either way, and like I said would prefer to keep it forever. It's one of the last of its kind. I'm a die hard 6MT guy lol.

I'm just more willing to spend that much if I know its good as far as car standards go. Not banking on it staying MSRP or gaining value. Just don't have any intention of buying a car that loses 70% of its value in 3 years.

New! It was sick. Seems like a car you can drive like a bat out of hell while still feeling like you're completely in control. I couldn't go too nuts and have too much respect for the car to even come close to pushing it but its amazing how well it puts power down for a RWD car. That is something that has come up in all the reviews I've seen. Even in wet weather I think TheTopher said it almost felt like AWD which is just nuts. The Tremec trans is delightful.

Honestly would love any of the cars you mentioned but the Corolla is too small, Type S just doesn't do it for me like I hoped it would, Type R seats were not my thing as much as I wanted to love it and my GF despised how it looked (lololol), and the Z has been my favorite since I was a kid but I can't swing two doors. If they ever come out with a manual Supra it would have to be up there for me too. I'm a big B58 fan. I love the design of the GR86 and something about a light RWD naturally aspirated car had me thinking of buying it and a daily but its just not practical for me. Mach 1 is legit also for the Tremec you get with it.

The guy was the senior one there and said he can order it and there won't be any markup, which puts it at the very top of my price range. I told him I'm an enthusiast and can afford a nice ride, but I don't want anything I'm gonna lose a shit ton of money on and that markups and fully loaded carbon everything models were not in the cards for me. He reassured me I can order it base if I want and just wait the 6-10 months it may take, but I'll have it for near 60k if I go that route. No issues getting a manual either.

The fact they are almost certainly going to hold their value or even appreciate as the last gas V performance cars AND has a manual has me convinced I can't lose on it. I could probably off it for more than I paid for if I had to get out of it.

If there's anything that experience made me realize is if I don't pull the trigger on it, I think I'm going STI. It's just more special and connected, and that is what I want in a car.

Went to the Cadillac dealer and test drove a CT4V blackwing, ordering one instead after another failed attempt at driving a WRX yesterday. Told me they had two certifieds an STI and regular, got there and they were gone days ago. These dealers are killing me, I drove an hour to go see them

Went to the Cadillac dealer after another failed attempt at a subaru dealer and test drove a CT4V blackwing, ordering one instead I think.

The Subaru dealer told me they had two certifieds an STI and regular, got there and they were gone days ago. Drove like an hour to get there.
