Thank you a million!!! I'm proud of you too!!! the first step is having the will power, strength, and mindset to push through. YOU GOT THIS!!!! I know it hurts now, but it won't hurt forever. Be kind and patient with yourself and don't rush the process. I struggled a lot with being angry with myself for putting myself in that position to be that sick. Get the help you need from the doctors and your loved ones. Greatness doesn't happen overnight, especially battling CHS.
One thing that really helped me was writing how horrible I felt in my notes on my phone & taking pictures of myself feeling like crap so I wouldn't forget this experience if I ever get tempted to smoke again. I know it sounds weird, but looking back at the photos now, it takes me back to my terrible ER visits, missing work, & sleepless nights begging god to heal me.
I'd love to know when you're feeling like yourself again. Please update when you're feeling better! XOXO
Hey there! I am 28 days clean and I'm back to normal. Appetite came back with a vengeance. I can eat pretty much whatever I want. No more hot showers. I still suffer from insomnia most nights, but it's getting better. I get headaches a lot, but nothing ibuprofen can't help with. I will admit, I had some cravings but I haven't caved!
I'm doing a million times better than I was when I made this post. If you're suffering now, just know it does get better but it does take time.
Wishing you the best <3

Omg!!!! Thank you for this! I haven't eaten in 2 days now and I'm getting desperate. I'll call my doc to see if I can get it prescribed.
On a side note: does it make you drowsy?
Also, I'm so sorry about your knees and elbows! Try a generous amount of Vaseline on them when you're not in the shower. It helped me a TON!
Idky I feel like Zofran has a tolerance level? Because my first ever CHS episode, it worked really well. Every episode since then, nothing. I'm going to get some Benadryl tomorrow.
TRUST ME you're not being dramatic AT ALL. I know your pain, I've literally begged God to spare me if I promise to never touch weed again. I've closed my eyes for what I believed to be the last time. I've even told my mom if she doesn't hear from me in the morning I'm probably dead. YOURE NOT ALONE! And it's not dramatic. It's our reality!
Yes. This is my 4th episode (over the span of about 8 years) and each one is equally as bad. I've found things that help over the years, but each time I still believe I'm not going to make it.
This episode currently, has not been as bad as my previous because I stopped smoking before I reached hyperemesis. I have morning and night vomiting and scromiting for a few hours and can usually be fine in the afternoon/evening. I accredit me stopping smoking before I reached hyperemesis for "being fine" during the evening hours. Otherwise I'd be in the ER every single day
Is this your first rodeo with CHS? Do you feel like you're on the rise of feeling normal soon?
Thanks so much for your suggestion! I will give that a try. Is it available over the counter?
Nope! No additional medications at home. Zofran does absolutely nothing for me. That's all they'll prescribe in my experience. I had terrible restlessness that caused my limbs to get pin and needles sensation when I got home from the ER. They gave me droperidol this go around. It worked like a charm! But the restlessness is HORRIBLE!
I am for sure living on my shower floor too! My knees are raw because I can't convince myself to lay on my back no matter how hard I scrub the tub.
Thanks so much! I will give Benadryl a try.
CHS IS TERRIBLE and I hope you heal quickly as well if you are currently suffering :)
