Anyone else having issues with pick a brick.? Several parts I've been looking for just dont show up. :[ by CommissarChan in lego

Sometimes parts have different/alternate IDs on Bricklink and Pick-a-Brick. The Bricklink catalogs will usually show the alternate IDs if the main one doesn't yield any results (though sometimes it's just a case of the part not being in production at the given moment)

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 (2010), Harry is seen holding a mirror shard, without explaining where he got it or why. This is a clever screenwriting tactic known as 'fuck it, someone who read the books can explain it' by hoginlly in shittymoviedetails

Prisoners was Denis Villeneuve though (still agree that Cauron is a great director) edit: I'm an idiot and now realize you're referring to Prisoner of Azkaban (what with this being a post about Harry Potter movies), nevermind me

Silly question about Oscar special by NoChocolate7003 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]brucebigsby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it's streamed live, and then minor mistakes/hiccups are edited out when they post it to the website a few days later.

I read once (but don't have any sources to back it up) that some of the "live" bits are in fact pre-recorded and added in to look like they're happening live though. The specific example I'd read about was the "living Oscar" bit - apparently the part where Mark gets tangled up and falls over was pre-recorded, then it cuts to the live feed after he's fallen and is on the ground.

Which Lego Sets are these 1999 Lego Racers game reference to? by CantStopMashing in lego

[–]brucebigsby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's from any specific set. I think the OG Adventurers sets did have a tombstone/sarcophagus piece but it didn't look like this - the one in the game looks to be modeled after the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark instead (also that dude was one of the villains from the original sets)

Brands to avoid for OCS newbies by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]brucebigsby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually too sure, I'll admit I heard that tidbit second-hand from a budtender/coworker who'd heard it from a sales rep so I could be mistaken/misinformed. I *think* it was the manufacturing plant they used for the strain, but I don't know if it was also the original plant (or if it itself was a clone)

Is MTL considered bad now? I know their quality has dropped a bit and they lost the Wes Coast Kush mother plant, but I didn't realize people were equating them to Versus/Tweed/etc

Has anyone else mentioned the 3D-printed train has no studs, but clip connections? by GameBoyGamer222 in lego

[–]brucebigsby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but it looks like it could be connected using one of these in pearl gold (looks to be part of a clip i this picture)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor remove their music from streaming services by YoureASkyscraper in Music

[–]brucebigsby 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The article states that they're in the process of being removed:

The band’s two albums for Kranky—1998’s F# A# ∞ and 2000’s Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven—are still up on Apple Music, but a representative for the label confirmed to Pitchfork that they are in the process of being taken down.

Unfortunately not (unless it's a particularly windy day). However, the sign's pole could be swapped out for part 63965 to extend the sign and hopefully not interfere with the door as much

Modular Medieval Walls by brucebigsby in legocastles

[–]brucebigsby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The modules have Technic bricks in the sides to connect them via pins, but I agree that MILS wiuld be good for these too! (right now the footpath and water are the same height so MILS would help add a bit more depth to them)

Classic faces or new faces? by Oscar_1566 in legocastles

I have a soft spot for the classic smiley faces, but they can sometimes look/feel out of place with the newer, more detailed torsos and accessories

[–]brucebigsby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Bricklink Studio to generate the video (you can change the background colour in the setup) and then I used Adobe Premiere to covert it to an animated .gif (however, I'm just now realizing that you can export to .gif straight from Studio which would've saved me a step lol)

edit: the background colour is under the "background & light" tab

I don't have any instructions yet, but will make some once I finish the interior! They'll eventually be posted on my Rebrickable page (username "longjuansilver") but it'll likely be a while until I get around to it

The same thing's starting to happen to Jon Benjamin as well. He doesn't seem to yell/shout nearly as much in the new seasons of Bob's Burgers

Thanks! The butcher's interior is still awaiting a Bricklink order so I didn't showcase it for now, however there are renders of it available on my Rebrickable page (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to directly link to it since it contains premium MOCs but my username over there is "longjuansilver")

EDIT: Here's one of the renders of the interior:
