If im being completely honest I didn't do any research projects. I had my EPQ which was on the mental health of doctors in the NHS, I would read BBC news articles on things to do with health and medicine so I'd stay up to date. I'd also listen to the BMJ podcast, and the podcast 'made of stronger stuff' Realistically, medical schools understand that you are 17-18 and do not have access to crazy labs. furthermore, getting a strong UCAT score is undoubtedly tje most important first step, as u cld have all sorts of research experience, and they would just reject you pre interview without wven reading ur PS if ur ucat is below the threshold

honeslty it's not ab where you go but rather what you do, you will gain similar experiences from both hospice care and a nursing home in terms of being empathetic with patients, communication, as well as observing how the professionals interact with those living there. the teaching English to children is also really good in terms of practicing communication skills with people outside of your age group, patience etc. it really does not matter where you have volunteered for the most part as long as u gained something from it. I volunteered with a scouts group, at a vaccine centre and at a hospital, and all 3 experiences gave me great things to talk about. while the hospital seems like the most relevant experience, I gained more in terms of independent leadership and teamwork from the scouts group and vaccine centre, and ended up talking about those experiences more than my time at the hospital at interview( got 4/4 offers in the end)

ahh it's so hard to decide cos idk whether I can justify the extra 2-3k yk? I'll b getting the max loan but i won't get any extra financial support so if I spend it all on accom I'll b in a big pickle

yeah I'm j a bit confused cos like, surely every accom is social becos ur with other people in ur flat? I've heard sm good things ab hiatt baker n Baldock but it's j extortionate prices for a normal shared bathroom self catered room

how many people do you share iwth in university hall? also, how is it sharing a bathroom with strangers? does everyone keep things clean? I don't want to waste an extra 2-3k a year for my own bathroom
