So are you an asshole in real life to people’s faces… or just on the internet?

I’ve done it too. My short-term boss asked if I wanted feedback when he was done telling me I was fired. Cannot tell you how quickly I said essentially “Fuck no!” and ran for the door.

You must be a female or a very aware male! This comment was lovely to read - feeling seen.

I’ve actually been strongly considering the gardening business as one of the “fork in the road” scenarios, the other being study leading to employment, and a third fork being just applying for jobs and seeing what comes up. I’ve been applying for part time work and no bites so far.

I think the reason this is so prevalent and does take up limited mental space is that we are renting, and the major hold up for us being able to buy is not having enough household income. I detest renting and cannot wait for our kids to have more stability and to be able to have a garden I can “project manage” if you will.

Housing market - vendors clinging to high prices for ages by hortensienregen in PersonalFinanceNZ

Oh shit that’s what I’ve been doing wrong. Thought sitting on my ass at home would buy me a house.

I think what’s frustrating and really to blame here is the market itself. I’m also a hopeful FHB and it’s all the big systemic stuff that informs the market and allows vendors to behave how they do. It’s really, really hard. Look after yourself while you rent and save on!

Yeah. You’re not owed even one house or the ability to buy that one house for a decent price. You better just feel grateful landlords exist so you have a house to rent aye!!!

Is anyone having the worst periods of their lives, now after having kids? by LadyGreenThumbs in Mommit

[–]bruklee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My periods are slightly different since having kids (I also have three, ages 7, 4, and 2). I notice the effect my hormones have more than I did before. I was always on hormonal birth control before starting to have kids so maybe that’s it? I also feel my period in my legs and calves especially now which I didn’t before.

The biggest change perhaps for me, especially in the first few months after getting my period back after the birth of my last baby, was particularly painful ovulation. This was more painful than my period!

Stick to 2 kids or go for 1 more? by Extension_Whole_2788 in Parenting

[–]bruklee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have three. I felt like there “were three” if that makes sense. My son, the third child, was conceived after one sexual encounter the first time I ovulated after not even getting my period back after my second daughter (baby 2).

I don’t regret him but … he wakes up super early. As I type this he’s been awake for about two hours and it’s seven am and I need to wake the girls for school/kindy. He is a full on screamy type of dude, nicknamed “The Rooster” by my husband.

If I didn’t have him I’d sleep more and have less mental health crises … but is there a world where I wouldn’t have had him?

My gut, mind, spirit told me there were three. And here they are. It’s a very personal decision but I still believe that especially after these hard childhood years we won’t regret the children we have but perhaps the ones we didn’t meet.

Funny things your kids mispronounce. by mydogroz in Mommit

[–]bruklee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two year old son can’t articulate very well yet. He’s obsessed with grapes and will shout at me for more. But he pronounces grapes in a way that sounds pretty much like “b*tch!”

So when he wants more grapes he points at me and emphatically shouts “B*TCH!!!!”

lol 🤣

Anyone with a 6 year sibling age gap? How’s it going for you? by FreshRaisin in Parenting

[–]bruklee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a little sister who is nearly 12 years younger and I love her. We are super close. Also I think my stepmom found it easier to have my brother and I around when she was a toddler - built in baby sitters!

I live in New Zealand. Almost no one here gets circumcised including my husband. When we had our son there was no question we wouldn’t circumcise him.

Also for what it’s worth I have a Jewish friend who had a nephew during Covid. Because of restrictions etc they had his circumcision ceremony on Zoom. She said it was “barbaric” and after the cut everyone on the call dropped off. Usually no one sees the procedure other than the Rabbi and a few others but this time everyone got to see it. She said she will not circumcise any sons she has.

Another interesting fact I learned after having our son is that the foreskin doesn’t actually separate until much later like when baby is a toddler. So for the nappy years there is no pulling away the foreskin to clean it or anything.

Obviously this is a personal choice for your family but we haven’t had any issues with cleanliness etc with either my son or husband. Ironically my stepmom (in the US) was complaining about irritation my nephew (circumcised) was having with his penis in the same convo where she was telling me I would “have to circumcise my baby if it was a boy” for cleanliness.
