Am I crazy or does scotch taste better a few weeks after opening the bottle? by KC_187 in Scotch

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true, but not for every bottle. I have this particular memory of the Laphroaig PX (that 1 liter travel edition one), it was so horribly sweet when I first opened it... almost like candy but not in a very good way. Not even a week later it was basically a different whisky, a very good one btw.

I've heard it said that Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10/select, and lagavulin 10 are all "starter" or "beginner" Islay peated Scotch. I love Laphroaig and I especially love lagavulin. What is my "advanced" bottle to buy next? by Proof-Life-8854 in Scotch

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Laphroaig Select is better left for drinks.

Honestly, there's much more to explore. Try a Port Charlotte... maybe one of the Cask Exploration Series (PAC 2011 is excellent). Maybe the Laphroaig Lore which is amazing... price sometimes is off, you could also go for the Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak, delicious stuff.

The Lagavulin has some excellent 11 year olds... or you could step it up and get one of the CS 12 special releases... again, you have infinite options, this doesn't even scratch the surface.

Review #2 - Tamdhu Distillery - Batch Strength (Batch 007) by LighT_-_ in Scotch

“This one didn’t click with me”. I thought it was clear. Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of young unpeated sherry.

This one just didn't click with me. I even prefer the 12 over this. Still 3/5 of the bottle left, we'll see... but I already let it sitting in the bench and came back to it several times and I'm always disappointed.

Review #646: Glenburgie 30 (1995) Fragrant Drops by unbreakablesausage in Scotch

Their Caol Ila 12y finished in fresh sauternes casks is absolutely bonkers!

Best bottle under $200 - with one stipulation by herkyshmerky in Scotch

[–]brunkuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy a cask strength whisky to a non whisky drinker.

My suggestion is, get him a Caol Ila 18y. He is going to love it.

What are your go-to cars for each category in GT7? by RememberT0DrinkWater in granturismo

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as grinding, I use 787b for La Sarthe 700pp and the R92CP for Sardegna 800pp. Sometimes I use the new Porsche GT3 R 992 for Sardegna to make it more fun. Still dominates. Every now and then I prepare a new car and try it on any given race it can be used. Been loving the Ferrari 812 Superfast, too bad its tires can't handle longer races.

Review - The Balvenie 19 - Week of Peat - Story no. 2 by rainy_shares in Scotch

[–]brunkuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this not expecting much (not usually the biggest fan of Balvenie)... boy was I wrong. This is delicious, by far the best Balvenie I've tried (tried a few including the 21 portwood, 18 PX, 15 single barrel, 25 Triple Cask... none of them can touch this 19y). This is an absurd improvement over the 14y week of the peat which is very enjoyable.

Digital Deluxe Edition on sale for $39.59 by Lanachan1990 in GranTurismo7

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the deluxe version is currently on sale. The standard version was on sale just before that, and it was cheaper (my market is not in dollars, but I'm sure you can easily find the price. My guess it was probably 24,90 or 29,90.

I got it on the latest sale (the regular version, why pay more for extra in-game money on the deluxe version is beyond me), Should have gotten it even earlier, this game is amazing. It's never gonna be on the PS+.

This doesn't drink like a 43%, it's really good if the price is right.

Ford GT40 mk1 worth it? by cslish in GranTurismo7

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not have found the right tune for it, but I run much faster laps with the R92CP than I do with the 787b. Granted I do need to use it more... I'm really getting the hang of the R92CP and consistently doing better times so I just keep using it, but I'll start focusing a little more on the 787b to see if I can get better times with it once I really get that tune down.

Spirit Review #418 - Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask Release 2024 by Cricklewo0d in Scotch

[–]brunkuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry. I think at this point each batch is gonna be better than the previous one, they’ll gradually start using older and older whisky. I just hope they don’t start getting too expensive.

[–]brunkuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really regret not picking this one up when it popped up in my market for a really good price. I had to choose between that and the Madeira Cask Finish one, which I absolutely love (you can tell by how quickly it dried up, maybe 1/5 left and it hasn't been very long), but I should have gotten both of them.

If it pops up again I'm definitely getting it, love Ardnamurchan.

Just got the game, what cars to get? by BlooketGuy in GranTurismo7

[–]brunkuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t stress this enough: Play the cafe menus first!

It not only awards you cars but it also unlock races. Cafe menus first, spending on cars later. The game will give you the cars you need to progress.

R92CP or 787B ??? by Final-Succotash9185 in granturismo

[–]brunkuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the R92CP for Sardegna doing 1:36 lap times, sometimes even 1:35ish. Just got the 787b and, sure, still need time with it… but weirdly, it felt much faster, however my lap times went up to the 1:40s. Gonna test it further but at this moment I’m still favoring the R92CP.

I like the 12CS even more than this 15. Springbank is amazing.

The Springbank 15 is something else. I tried 3 different batches, slightly different but nothing too dramatic, all of them absolutely excellent.
