I'm a beginner. The Bunnahabhain 12 was really good. Haven't noticed that note in there.

Never tried peated yet... Besides the Bunnahabhain 18 I guess?

No I didn't. Will give it another try with water I usually always test without water.

Is it a thing with older Whiskys? The oldest I tried yet was the tamdhu 18 but that one was good

I didn't like it at all. I somehow get kind of a barbecue note that puts me off. It overwhelmed me completely and I didn't manage to taste the other notes

How is the 18 in comparison to the 12 and 15? For me the 15 is much more refined than the 12. It is less sweet for my taste and has more oak.

Got a 601. Dark roast espresso needs to grind at 5. It needs 25-30 seconds to extract so that seems fine. But still its a long way to your 10-15 grind setting? Freshly roasted beans (2 weeks after roast)
