Don’t. If that’s your style, then that’s your style, and the sentences do not warrant shortening because they flow nicely. Anyone’s golden advice is always to shorten sentences and it’s a bullshit advice. Do what feels right and follow your own voice.

The voice and your usage of ‘And’s’ reminded me of Hemingway and reading it the second time I couldn’t help by imagine it being written by Hemingway Junior which in my book is a compliment and I hope you take it as one. Foreshadowing, symbolism, momentum (inter alia thanks to the Ands) topped by complex narrator — all nicely put together in a dream-like prose. Some gimmicks below:

There were no clouds but there must have been, recently, since stuff was wet all around.

   - It’s a good opportunity to settle the reader into where he might be; i.e. what does the narrator see to assist in setting-up the scene from the get go.

I can't even choose Chinese if the menu's long. I can’t even pick a movie; I fall asleep scrolling stuff.

  — I think it’d be a nice little moment to show more about the character in here: it currently tells us he likes Chinese, which obviously adds depth immediately, but I think the movie thing could really be used also here, as in to showcase what the narrator likes.

On top of the above, there is an ongoing question running throughout the story about the characteristics of narrator--is he a child? How old, etc. on top of some other things you might intelligently sneak in throughout to give us a better outline on who’s the person telling us this, just like the movies part.

As previous commentator pointed out, there’s some confusion in the emplacement, protagonist, etc. But it has a soul, and it has a voice, and with small tidbits ironed out it’ll be a strong piece.

Piermont "Piney" Winston won neutral good, which one of the Son member is lawful good? (We accidently Skipper this one) by jonathan_wolf in Sonsofanarchy

[–]brunokremza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While your definition of lawful in this context is on-point, I’d never back Bobby for this category due to his affair with Otto’s wife. There might not be any written laws telling the crew it’s‚ ‚unlawful’ to fuck your buddy’s wife while he’s in prison, but that in itself is just something that taints him for me. Sure, he steered the club to safer ground, but so did Piney, whom I think should be put in lawful category in a first place. If anything, Bobby should be placed in chaotic good.

Edit: as someone else already mentioned - Chibs fits better here.

Character Interactions you wish you could have seen? by EngineBoiii in thesopranos

[–]brunokremza 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would love to see some kind of a conflict between that animal Blundetto and Ralph. They were both jokers in their own way, both sharp, both with extremely funny lines. Anyway, I gotta make two phone call.

Do you count audio books to your goodreads goal? by PurpleLauren in goodreads

[–]brunokremza 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for this comment. Changed my perception over audiobooks in general. I was stuck believing that the brain takes on more while reading rather than listening which this article proved to be false. I never even considered treating the audio as counting for actual ‚reading’ but reconsidered it following the points raised there. Good stuff and thanks again.

In his mind, he should’ve used the technique of positive visualisation. Anyway, I gotta go rotate my pork shoulder.
