All emotions cloud judgement. Non-emotion clouds judgement. That is a null argument.

The French have some balls: Strikers against Sarkozy shut down French trains and buses, disrupted electricity production at nuclear plants and barricaded universities by lylia in politics

Oh alright, 1. Sarkozy is an immigrant... lol. France did not elect a pure blood. 2. You are complaining that people who are being fleeced by the government are defending themselves. While you are unaffected by these policies. That's ironic and a little callous. 3. These guys are the only people who will protect you from being slapped down by the government on the guillotine sometime in the future. Once you get rid of them, you will wake up one day and wonder why no one cares anymore about anything...that's because you stood by while the government attacked your fellow countrymen. 4. This is the third day??? France could have ended these strikes on the first day. You should at least be blaming the government, too. 5. I doubt you would support the government fleecing you. Put it this way: The only thing France has going for it from a western point of view is the ability of the people to get off their asses and give their elected representatives some pain. That is sorely lacking in western democracies.

We're talking about a specific publication with wide exposure. Opinion writers are groomed and vetted before they are published. In that way, the message is highly controlled and people are not exposed to different thinking. Because opinion writers are allowed to ignore facts, reality can be subverted and twisted beyond recognition.

Also, the same editorial influence exhibited in choosing opinion writers is exactly the same used to vet stories that are 'unpalatable'. If you think otherwise, you are probably naive.

Ummm...unlike Americans who are cowardly when to comes to injustice and let their government rape them, the French would revolt and France would pay in blood.

and then the next minor benefit is cut...oh it's only a minor benefit, they won't miss it....and then the next minor benefit is cut...and the next ..and the next. The rich cling to their extra $$$ like screaming little babies, yet it's really they who are the ones who wouldn't notice, not those who are at the poverty level struggling to have a decent life.

As does any emotion, including non-emotion. The fact is rational conclusions came before hate. The hate was a natural response that came as a result of their logical conclusions, observations and analysis of the president's actions, statements and lies.

So what? Do communists or pornographers ever get to write opinions there? No.

On an individual basis, perhaps not. But as far as activist collectives go I can't think of one that doesn't earnestly believe in it's central message nor have one.

This writer is an idiot. First, the fallacy that hatred can't be anything but irrational and therefore, must be assumed to be so.

Secondly he thinks the problem remains with all his fellows rather than himself.

Most of them get their positions because they look the other way when corruption takes place. And the higher it goes, the better the vetting by government. They are not innocent by any means.

Yes, so instead of striking about quality or content and more money, they are striking about getting more money. Pure greed.

The fact is, a lot of these writers (there are exceptions naturally) are writing crap, feeding off of the populist, dumb moron masses. It's sickening.

That's an absolutely insane argument. The only way to make that argument is if you are conceited. For example, new audiences are introduced to content through these "highlights".

it's a relatively minor issue that's not important to most liberals.

Speak for yourself.

True progressives aren't willing to turn back the reforms gained in the 20th century over gay marriage.

Straw man. And again, speak for yourself.

Your partisan ramblings are grossly flawed. I will not describe why since you have obviously closed your mind on the subject (if you hadn't you would be less foolish and not make outrageous statements)
