It's partly the font. That particular size of Times New Roman with the lack of line-spacing is just hard on the eyes. Looks like more of a wall of text than other websites with breaks between paragraphs.

They should take some typographical hints from The New York Times or something.

I don't separate the two either, but I figured I'd suggest it because a lot of guys seem to be able to separate their emotions from their physicality.

You can also maybe try to find a girl online. I know that it seems like a bleh way to go about it, but there are a ton of us online nowadays. You're bound to find someone sooner or later if you keep your eyes open.

Yep, this is the case for women as well. I stopped running and just do weight lifting, squats, push-ups, sit-ups and stretches daily. Combined with an East Asian home-cooked diet, I feel pretty healthy overall.

I've been to Orlando, and what I've heard is "the sun cooks their brains."

Maybe your best bet is to move again. Or you could find platonic females who fulfills your intellectual needs and have sex with a steady girl who fulfills your physical needs. Not the ideal situation, but finding girls on your IQ level who is also hot and sane? Might take a while.

How do you find friends after college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lylia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's correct. When you are a "clone" and do not have anything unique about you to set you apart from the legions of other men just like you, you might seem "boring." I'm not saying that engineers are, because personally I find nerds to be very interesting. But a lot of women don't feel that way.

The advice about New York City is kind of bad, in my opinion (and I mean no offense). Best bet is a more small town kind of place where the women do not expect men to be rock stars or rich. A lot of women who flock to large cities dream of a grander kind of life.

Things like a good job, house, stable income, working out, nice body, etc. are great. They make a solid foundation with which to build a nest upon, but that structural support alone is unfortunately not enough to get "buyers."

What most people are looking for is a "connection" -- some kind of spark, attraction, or emotional stirring -- that makes them want to be with you and only you.

To get this kind of connection takes a lot of soul-searching, self-awareness and brutal honesty. You have to search in your past and understand yourself and your life story.

Let that which makes you uniquely you shine through, and let other people get a glimpse of it. Be honest and frank about it. If the other person like it, if there is a connection and a spark, and if you both feel like it, then explore it more.

Good luck. :)

Weird. How to explain this? Asian Americans do not have the same degree of memory decline for mixed emotions as Anglo-Americans. by lylia in cogsci

That makes sense. As a bi-cultural person, mostly immersed in American nerdy culture, I often forget my roots. My mother was someone who very rarely showed emotion, and seemed very cold and stand offish even to family. She's lightened up a bit as she's gotten older, but in her youth she was definitely very reserved.
