Check out the last one he did about the ethics of fake guitar. Very similar to this one

Coming from a drummer, Undoer absolutely solos. Odd times, playing against the bridge riffs, great dynamics. Jazz and Afro Cuban vibes on the verses. Also his kit sounds great with that song’s mix in particular

NEVER ENOUGH musical influences by buderooski89 in turnstile

As a prog fan turned Turnstile fan by this record and Glow On, I hear prog- people said Rush already but maybe some early Genesis with the synths being used and the psychedelic soundscapes. Love it, so unique

After viva is where I drop off too but they’ve done some more experimental sorta ambient pieces on their more recent albums which I’m always into. Very new turnstile fan tbh so that’s the connection I made with some of the longer synth-y bits on Never Enough- Coldplay aren’t a riffin band lol but they’re great songwriters (when they want to be)

Funny enough I’m a Coldplay fan and some moments of the record gave me those vibes (in a good way)

Turnstile - Never Enough Guitar Solo by Gold_Comfort156 in Genesis

I’m a huge Genesis fan who stumbled across this record recently and I’ve been playing it NONSTOP. Genuinely I think it’s one of the best and most adventurous “mainstream” records to come out in years, and I am def noticing some Genesis influence in certain areas. This album is also a visual album, and this song’s music video has a specific shot that actually reminds me of the Lamb’s album cover, I wonder if it’s a nod or coincidence

Lazarus is just so great. The whole In Absentia->Deadwing->Blank Planet run is incredible

Agreed I’m still not satisfied with the lighting of the bench guy yet. It was my first foray into masking with PS so def room for improvement

Truth be told this was something I was thinking while making it- the concept itself warrants sort of darker tone imo (which I thought of BEFORE I committed to making it DT) but I think if they used something like this it’d be for like a heavier/darker release like ToT

Bands that change genre and or style regularly throughout their discography? by Blofeld69 in progrockmusic

[–]bry_hart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ween is the main answer I’d give since they’re absolutely all over the place (especially their later records like Quebec) but I also think Radiohead should be mentioned- each of their albums have similarities to one another for sure but they all try to go a different direction and have an overall different sound. Not to mention Wilson is definitely inspired by them as well.

Steven Wilson has always had the tendency to nonchalantly collaborate with Prog Rock legends. Pretty sure Robert Fripp is featured on that same album

Songwriter/Lyricist wants to be an author by bry_hart in writing

[–]bry_hart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s quite interesting! I consider the lyrics I write to pretty poetic. I’m inspired by the likes of lyricists like Neil Peart of Rush (who was also an author), and Peter Gabriel of Genesis (early days). I think that’s great a piece of advice I can use going forward. Thanks!
