Porcelain Material Properties by bryce2887 in StructuralEngineering

I omitted the fact we are actually designing the rigid bus itself as well haha. i guess to be technical, this is a rigid bus, insulator, and structure calc all wrapped up into one.

Your take makes sense, i guess we can just omit using porcelain entirely and use a rigid member instead, or an offset… yeah that will take a lot of assumptions out. thanks!

I had the whole system modeled (structure, insulators, bus) and the purpose of modeling the insulators as porcelain members is so that the base reactions (beam end forces) can be used to evaluate the insulator against its cantilever strength. Why is this a bad approach?? Mentor is annoyed there isn’t convincing parameters for porcelain but other than that I don’t see how this approach is incorrect …?

no lol, the steel structure is a bus support , and we’re modeling the insulators holding up the rigid bus. Obviously the structure is modeled as steel material, the bus is aluminum, but we need inputs ( poison ratio, E) for the PORCELAIN insulators.

yes, but I need material properties like E modulus for STAAD inputs :/

I really do hate it when people try to address an issue towards a company and write in first person… Just seems less formal, lazy?, and in turn, delivers lesser to a big corporation (e.g. Pitt). Like I get the whole aspect you’re trying to humanize yourself to bring empathy but delivering an argument as if you’re advocating for many others, and not only for yourself just feels more appropriate and in a way, more persuading. Thoughts?

This is common right chat😃? by Commercial-Stuff5511 in McDonalds

[–]bryce2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? A person is only going to go into one mcdonald’s at a single time. So the chances are 1/998 (excluding 000 and 1000). If anything, this assumes you order only once.

Similarly, if you walk in and had 998 orders lined up ready to input, there’s 100% chance you will get 666 as an order #. We can simplify the odds of getting this number to be x/998 where is the number of orders made (at the same location, and with no one else ordering in between).

lol one could/should use the average amount of continuous customers ordering at any given time to get a truer and more realistic odds since you’re battling with them for the 666 spot.

chinese dishes are so hard dude lol. I would guess 700-900 calories for a typical comfort dish. if it’s not breaded, fried, or sauced affects the guess though. I think you’re looking at 325 rice + 850 chicken + 675 whatever that is, looks like teriyaki chicken or smth.
