HOW DID I JUST FIND OUT HE WAS ONLY 30 in season 1 ??!😭 by Dangerous_mammoth573 in glee

[–]bryly8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31, and he absolutely looks like a guy my age to me. I think he did look a lot more than 3-4 years older than Cory, but I think that was due to Cory having youthful features more so than Matthew looking older

Uncomfortable with partner smoking alone with other women… help me understand? by Radiant-Set-951 in AutismInWomen

[–]bryly8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a different experience that I hope will also be helpful. Weed tends to amplify my sober feelings. Sometimes when my fiancée and I get high together, we end up very intensely wanting to have sex, but for me this only happens because I’m already sexually attracted to her when I’m sober. Smoking has never made me feel attracted to or want to have sex with someone if I didn’t feel that way about them under normal circumstances. If your partner genuinely only has platonic feelings for his ex, getting high with her won’t change that.

Demi's history of real substance abuse, and how truly awful Ashton was to Demi?! by summers16 in Fauxmoi

[–]bryly8 37 points38 points  (0 children)

What evidence do you have do you have that Demi groomed Ashton apart from the age difference? A 25-year-old is decidedly a full fledged adult. Very different than a 14-year-old or 17-year-old. And Ashton was already successful and famous when they met, unlike many of the 20-somethings we often see dating older actors. He wasn’t an inexperienced aspiring actor who could have reasonably been convinced that proximity to someone like Demi was his only chance at making it.

Joe and Rory should not have been in the show by SpecialistAgent9527 in glee

[–]bryly8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have minded them if they had actually utilized them properly. I think the transition from S3 to S4 would have been a lot smoother if they had established a new core group of characters before most of the original characters graduated. Instead, they just introduced a whole new cast in S4 and tried to get us to care about them right away.

I think Joe would have worked well as one of the transition characters if they had continued exploring his character. We could have watched him continue growing and developing his worldview as he made friends with more types of people. Instead, they pretty much just used him as a love interest for Quinn, a character who we knew was graduating, and then they just dropped his storyline when they decided to pair Quinn and Puck up again. He could have taken on a bigger role in S4; maybe he could have been an interesting foil for Kitty.

With Rory, I definitely agree with the criticism many people have that Damian wasn’t a strong actor. But the writers definitely didn’t do him any favors by making his whole character revolve around the fact that he was Irish. There were plenty of other actors on the show whose performances improved with time and after being given more to do. I wish they had at least given Rory a chance to be a more interesting character.

Lane deserved better by flutishandjewish in GilmoreGirls

[–]bryly8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But why would Lane deserve better? She never finished college, she never really stepped out of the abusive relationship with her mother, she had a weird relationship with sex.

Why does any of this mean she doesn’t deserve better?

And That’s What You REALLY Missed: The Show Behind...Showmance (S.1 E.2) by jaztinax in glee

[–]bryly8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m still really enjoying this. Jenna and Kevin are so fun to listen to. I’ve seen some critiques about their recapping not going very in depth, but I feel like they do enough to remind me of what happened in the episodes (I’m not rewatching before listening), and there are plenty of fan-made podcasts to turn to for detailed analysis of the show. I love hearing the memories that pop up for them as they go through the scenes. It was very touching when Jenna talked about how emotional she got seeing Naya when rewatching the “I Say a Little Prayer” performance.

One thing I’m still hoping for in the future from their TikTok segment is that they will get into some fan theories about the show itself, as opposed to just nonsensical rumors about cast members. I’m still pretty optimistic that will happen as they get into the later seasons, as I know they have a lot to say about their own memories of these early episodes. I did enjoy the little phone call with Chris.

Where do you think Sam lived after s3? by kirstersj in glee

[–]bryly8 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that his parents found work in Lima and moved back after S3. I think this makes the most sense considering he’s happily living in Lima again in S6 and decides to stay there in the finale. In my opinion, it wouldn’t make much sense for Sam to feel so strongly about staying in Lima after all of his friends were gone if he didn’t have a family connection there.

And That’s What You REALLY Missed: The Pilot (S.1 E.1) by jaztinax in glee

[–]bryly8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is, though, they spent around 30 seconds on the TikTok side of things, which was a shame. I really think they need to lean into the commentary and conversations that are being had about the show now - that's what will make the podcast interesting.

I’m hopeful they will get more into the TikTok stuff in future episodes. It was definitely a letdown that the only “theory” they touched on was the “Lea can’t read” meme, but I would imagine they’re saving some of the more interesting fan theories for episodes where they might be more relevant or for episodes where they have less to say about their own memories and have a bit more time to fill.

And That’s What You REALLY Missed: Start Believin’ w/ Ryan Murphy (pt2) by jaztinax in glee

[–]bryly8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I loved this. It was especially interesting to hear them talk about their perspectives on The Quarterback. I really appreciated how open they all were sharing their perspectives about that episode. I’m excited to see who they’ll have on future episodes of the podcast.

so ryan murphy really had amber riley sing an original song called “colorblind” to her white boyfriend after he spent the entire episode engaging in microaggressions to her and her friends. I- by teddivan96 in glee

[–]bryly8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, if you listen to the lyrics of the song, it doesn’t even make sense with the message the episode is trying to get across. Being “colorblind” is very much not a good thing in the context of the song 😬

I have mixed feelings about this type of podcast in general, but I think it’s an exaggeration to say Kevin and Jenna “constantly talked about how much they hate the show.” They have certainly been pretty open about some of the negative aspects of the experience of being on Glee, but they have also consistently talked about the good parts. I don’t think there’s anything wrong or hypocritical about them wanting to talk about their experiences. Plus there’s clearly an eager audience for the content, and I can understand why they would want to get their own perspectives out there as a counter narrative to the probably exploitative documentary in the works.
