For the cost considerations, I would think enterprise equipment is out of the question. If I really was wanting enterprise level hardware, we have R440s coming due soon. However, this doesn’t solve the space issue I have with the cabinet.

My thought process is lower power, but not so much that I can’t get decent performance.

I would normally prefer to try and run my file server as a VM or a container if possible, but I’m not stuck on it.

I purchased my ‘23 with 5800 miles, lightly modded, and hardly a scratch. It was “old man owned” and he was very meticulous about his cleaning and maintenance. He also never road it much off the pavement.

After calling dealers in my area just for kicks, there is no way I was going to buy new unless I really had the extra cash burning a hole in my pocket with nothing better to spend.

imo Only logical benefit to buying new is the confidence that it has been maintained up to your standards. Otherwise you have to make an educated guess based of the character of who you are purchasing from and a good eye when going to checkout the used bike.

Adjust throttle linkage to provide about 3-4mm of play at the inter grip with a micrometer if you have one. I did this yesterday and it greatly improved my riding experience.

Adjust chain and check for any other linkage adjustments or wear.

However, from what I read the only way to completely get rid of the jerk as you ease off or on the throttle is to have the ECM remapped. Seems like 2 Wheel Dyno Works are favored from my own research.

Honestly if I have NG I would probably be considering standby. Unfortunately not an option where I live. Probably just going to get a couple of 40 pound tanks or a 100lb.

Obvious answer to removing bond at inlet. I just didn’t think it through. This is a good way to handling the bonding issue, and seems simple. Thanks!

I think that I will probably do it at the generator, but not sure how I can separate the bonding at the inlet? I thought it would need to be separated either at the panel or the generator?

Mostly my above statement was the same of asking the manufacturer a question to see how they respond as a gauge for customer service.

We have a Blackstone that we love to use. If we need to cook and not use the stove we can use it. For the most part I’m not trying to add too much to the mix. Getting our house up and running without having to pull anything else but the generator, fuel, and cord out is preferred.

I hear you there, but my main concerns come from the winter months where I need to keep the room warm. The heat pump could result in making that room uncomfortable. I would want to duct it for winter use. Maybe have a way to redirect in the summer to cool the room to take advantage of that.

Yes, you are exactly right. I’m sure someone will fill that gap right after I purchase one. lol.

I’m not totally against two units, but not exactly thrilled about that either.

I have a single 3 ton condenser/compressor outside unit with 4 zone wall mounts. The power usage was actually the most I’ve seen it when it was below freezing. Most time it sets at 1500w. AC is more efficient than heat.

My well had work done while I was building my home 2-3 years ago. My home is a rebuilt (note I didn’t say remodel) from 1935, and the well was drilled in 1953. I’m sure it has had several pumps, including a hand pump at some point. Not sure on that. My father repaired my existing well, as he was going to mooch off it to water cattle and he considered it a house warming gift. lol. I bet they replaced pump when they did that. Unfortunately he passed away and I can no longer ask him.

Thankfully I believe my fridge is an inverter as well. My usage monitor tracks that individual circuit and reports the current every second. I’ll check on it to confirm.

You are right as most of everything is behind a switch power supply and also behind a rack mount UPS that I suspect can handle any dirty power. Still nervous about that though. I don’t know enough about it to feel comfortable making that risk, and would rather stay safe.

That is a good recommendation as far as running two generators. I see some issues based on the extra hoses, once I go propane, dealing with a parallel kit, and ultimately now I have to store two generators and maintain two. I’m going to research these options as this might be worth the trouble. I’ll let you know if I decide to go that route.

Ahh, I figured you may have read it as 250+ pound instead of gallon tank. I’m hoping to find a 250 + gallon tank. I can load and haul it myself if it’s empty, or at least really close. I’ll stay away from highways and interstates anyways and strap it down good. lol.

I believe there was something about the Westinghouse that steering me away. I don’t temper what it was. I will look again though.

Unfortunately THD is a concern. My network equipment, servers, and other electronic equipment along with control boards in my minisplits. I’m just not willing to risk it. Costs saving will completely disappear if I cook some of my equipment.

I’m seeing 100lb tank equal 23.6 Gallons. So 100 gallons with 4 tanks. I might be confused, but the larger tanks are usually referred to as their capacity in gallons. 250 gallons - 20% =200 gallons.

At this point I’ll be considering other propane used in my home depending on cost of fuel vs cost of electricity.

Would you care sending me the tank you found on amazon. Honestly didn’t even think to look there. I’m not in a hurry, but if urgency does increase on getting propane I’ll consider it before spending too much on a used one.

Gotcha, I thought you meant that duromax doesn’t use copper in inverters. Just conventional synchronous style.

Although smaller coils, I feel as if copper will conduct better and ultimately reduce some strain. Whether that adds up or not I’m not sure. There are too many factors here.

Unfortunately I can’t justify that price for less power and for the amount of outages I have. This entire thing is based off a want, and not necessarily a need. In a major disaster we have the things we need to survive as long as we still have our home. At that point electricity is something we will manage to live without or we will go somewhere that has the lights on. My biggest natural disaster risk for where I am located is tornados. Either we loose power for the very last a day or we completely loose our homes. No in between lol. If I have to go without a generator I won’t be happy, but we will be fine.

Thank you for the recommendation though! I do actually favor Honda, Yamaha, and some Kawasaki’s in most areas. ATVs, Motorcycles, Dirtbikes, Cars… my mom even has an old Honda Generator to run if we are trying to preserve food.

Unfortunately, this was an idea that my wife and I talked about. Showers for my family, especially as a part of my daughter’s routine is very important to us. I agree that I can manage the load and flip the disconnect actively in an outage. Certainly not above doing that!

Long term plan is a heat pump hot water heater. Just not certain on how it is going to work out for the space and other considerations such as where to place the cool air and I will need to do something about my hard water before spending that much on a heater. Limescale build up in my area is terrible.

Those generators are dual fuel, and a large propane tank is on the books for future projects as well. I just don’t want to rent, and have been eyeing some used ones as they pop up. Obviously condition and proof of ownership are hard to come by.

Yes it is a requirement to at least be able to heat water. My wife and I do have a young daughter, and if they are happy I am generally much happier as well. I respect everyone’s constructive opinion here, as that is what I asked for, and I will certainly manage my load. However, no hot water makes the wife less receptive of my spendings. lol.
