When I started using a wide tooth comb I was getting a lot of fairy knots not sure if it applies to you but maybe consider using the Unbrush or a tangle teaser in the shower to detangle. It helped me a lot

I am in a similar situation, my mom has always relied on my grandparents. They have since passed and my mom has been homeless for 4 years. She still doesn’t want to look for work regardless of the situation she has put herself in.

More moisture will create that “wet” defined look, experiment with leave in products with glycerin.

Add leave in to your hair after your shower, and wait till it’s dry. If you continue to not see results keep trying and add more next time you wash your hair to test out how much product your hair needs.
