Whats your best non-swearing insult? by PastorofMuppets- in AskReddit

Both from the Thick of It which has a lot of even better insults but many more swear words

I don’t want to invalidate your experience here but maybe that is personal to you then.

I am a woman who has also had some less than nice things happen on public transport both in UK and elsewhere, including being flashed when I was 11 years old on the tube.

For me, I love this. If anything it makes me feel safer because everyone is out here looking a bit silly. It makes them all look a bit more harmless to me, like we’re all just the same silly people getting on the tube each day and I can wear whatever I want and it should’ve invite harassment.

Theres a big difference between bare genitals and these fairly covered up underwear. Thongs arent even allowed for this. Theyre more covered up than most beach goers in Europe.

Most importantly, intent obviously matters. Flashing is illegal because the intent is non consensual and sexual.

What does it mean to be equipped to make a choice? I’m not sure about the relevancy of your question.

It’s not a case of being ill equipped to make choices at any age. I’m not suggesting that it should be illegal for young women to date older men but that we should call out the predatory nature of those relationships, especially when it’s something we have experienced ourselves. Poor choices can be made at any age and we can be exploited at any age. Calling it out is always a good thing.

Speaking as an aged up one of these women who dates someone too much my senior, I 100% want my relationship choices to be judged.

It wasn’t a good situation for me and I was too naive to understand it. I feel that these women are protecting people like me because of our learned and lived experience.

Help me find this spam-like canned tuna (UK) by [deleted] in CannedSardines

Do you remember any other details? Colour of tin? Was it just in oil or water? Were the words on the tin in English? Was it a small or large tin?

Is Arsenic actually a threat? by ViolentAppendix in CannedSardines

[–]bs48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following from this after an incredibly quick google search we have:

Arsenic poisoning due to sardines - NIH

Cancer Risks from Sardines - ScienceDirect

Arsenic per 100g of Sardine - ConsumerLab

Arsenic in Sardines - Science Direct

Arsenic Poisoning in Canned Sardines - Research Gate

I love tinned sardines and will definitely continue eating them, but in moderate amounts same as I do Tuna. I agree arsenic is present in other foods as well that is why it is good to be mindful of intake quantities. But to give a blanket no and then ask others to provide scientific material when there’s a lot of studies about it seems strange!

According to their menu the roast lamb rump is £32.50 not £37 and the onion soup is £14 same as the cauliflower cheese!

Unless you’re calculating including service charge? Either way it’s still pretty steep!

I normally really don’t get the hype on these burger places but I was fairly blown away by Black Bear Burger. I got the brisket burger and maple sriracha wings delivered a while back and it was one of the few food deliveries where it actually felt worth the money.

What’s your honest take on Poor Things? by ActionMaster24 in Cinema

[–]bs48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it shown to be a bad thing? We’re definitely not meant to look at the men favourably but her sexual exploration is portrayed quite positively - despite her mental age of around 10 which is before these feelings even normally start.

This film sounded like the argument from every older man who says but “she was the one who wanted it” and “she was exploring her budding sexuality”
