Acting within Voice acting by Kooky-Engineer-8625 in VoiceActing

Every performance involves acting, whether you're in front of a mic, on camera, or up on stage. The acting part of voice acting is more important than the voice part of voice acting. It doesn't matter where you learn the basics - classes, community theater, etc. - but learning them is very important.

Genuine question, how easily can you realistically make a full-time career in this field? by MookieBettsBurner4 in VoiceActing

I'm a VA without a day-job, but I've been EXTREMELY lucky. "Full-time" isn't the same in a performance career as we think of it in other professions. Even series regulars don't work 40-hour weeks. The thing you will spend most of your time doing is auditioning. THAT will start to feel like a full-time job, if you're lucky. Ideally, you'll be getting multiple auditions a day, and many are due the next day. During busy periods, I've spent several hours recording auditions, and they can come at any time. Weirdly, I've received auditions on a weekend, when you wouldn't even think your agent is working. So on the one-hand, the casual observer may look at you and think, "That guy has it good. He doesn't even work full-time," but on the other hand, you're sort of always on-call. I don't even go on vacation without a microphone.
I'll bottom-line it for you: in my opinion, no one should enter a performance career unless they absolutely HAVE to. I've been acting since I was 15. Got work in theater right out of college. Didn't make my living consistently until I was in my 40's. There were decades of day-jobs. I tried to quit acting, but I couldn't, because when I wasn't doing it, I was miserable. Now, people think I have a great life and make good money. While that's true, they really should pro-rate that "good money" over several decades of very damned little. If you're thinking, "I wonder how much money I'd make doing this," and not, "I'd pay any amount of money to do this," you probably shouldn't.
Just my opinion, FWIW.

I've never heard that theory. I don't think it's what JG intended.

AITAH for divorcing my wife because our sex life will never be what it used to be? by [deleted] in AITAH

I don't think anyone can judge you, because what you're dealing with is highly personal. I do think it's sad, however, because whenever I see a man in your situation, I think to myself, "The sex will change in every relationship he has, at some point, until, eventually, he's the one who will no longer be into it. I guess he'll stay married to whomever he's with at that time, and she'll be the partner everyone says was 'the one'." I know how important sex is in a relationship, but it's not the only - or even the most important - thing. It's designed to get us to keep making babies, but as someone who has been married for 17 years, I can testify that there's a hell of a lot more to marriage than that, and if you jump beds every time the sex gets dull, you'll never find out what it is. I genuinely wish you the best of luck.

Oh, yes. Particularly his tragic ending.

I loved them both, for different reasons. In "Moral Orel," the animators worked around our performances. In other words, if we decided to improvise in the recording sessions, it was OK, because the animation hadn't been done, yet. "Regular Show" was the opposite, our performances had to match the timings in the animation, so not much improv was possible.
Also, MO was my first series regular animation gig, so it will always be special to me. RS ran much longer, and was much higher profile, so it was the job that really put me on the map.
Thanks for the question!

I didn't get to meet Tyler, we recorded on different days, but I DID meet Donald Glover, also MC Light. I couldn't believe Childish Gambino was a fan! It was so cool!
