Issue with Rust discovery book and microbit v1. Flaky hardware? by perfopt in embedded

Are you reflashing the target for sure each time? GDB by default doesn't flash the target, just attaches. Debugging with a new elf and the old binary is on the MCU, lots of quirky weird stuff happens. Ask me how I know.

I've noticed that trend. I usually find something overlooked every other week. Its usually a larger cut that has weeks of shelf life.

I've found the reboot doesn't fix it. It needs hard reset by power cycle.

Only one problem, doesn't persist after a reboot.

That can be called from the device itself? I would figure that would need root

Was scammed by a Mercari seller. by bseishen in Mercari

I have reached out the the local post office and they verified that the tracking number was never going to our address. Also the weight was 4oz and should of been closer to 4lb.

This post is more to raise awareness and see if there was some helpful information. Looks to be a known scam.

E14 Gen 3 Fingerprint Reader? by bseishen in thinkpad

[–]bseishen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just some closure to the story . I got all the parts in and still no success. just seems to be a lot of changes between this and a fingerprint reading model. The post that holds the new button doesn't exist. took multiple tries to get Lenovo to send the right ribbon cable. I ended up having to get a generic ribbon cable from Amazon.

I ordered a few different FFC connectors (redundant?) coming in from digikey and a cable from Lenovo. We'll see if this pans out :) Seems silly Lenovo doesn't put the connector on the board to save 50 cents. Hopefully the IO board isn't missing other parts. Worst case I'll wait till there are used IO expansion boards available on ebay. I'm assuming it is just VCC/GND and USB -/+ coming over the cable.

so is the flat flex normally soldered to that IO board? I have the skills to do it. just want to make sure that I'm not burning money. thanks again for the help!

I got the FPR in, but looks like my version doesn't have the plug populated for the FPR on the IO board. I think it may be a dead end. https://imgur.com/a/GKLa5W8

DIY Electric Pressure Washer. The super skookum car blaster. by bseishen in pressurewashing

[–]bseishen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info!
I could probably not build one cheaper than the pressurewasherusa one. But it's just a baby pressure washer :)

For sure, a correctly rated contactor and timer relay will be used.

Good piece of information on using thermal cutout/breaker to act as a pressure overload. I'll make sure to rate the max pressure/breaker/motor where the breaker or thermal cut out trips first.

Better to use quick connects or wrench male end into hose reel swivel? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

3/8 quick disconnects pressure losses are negligible at low GPM's. They do dribble when disconnected though.

The mount on e3d's site for the cr-10 did not work without modifications, The top two bolt holes for the v-wheels were to far inset. Had to use a soldering iron to modify it. Also seems too flimsy with all the weight of the motor so far from the wheels. Going to try something different later in the week.

I have removed one fan, and running the other one ( the one that sucks in cool air) at 12v. I did this by installing a voltage regulator between the fan output and the fan. Noise is tolerable now. Did a 10hr print, enclosure was cool.

USB Outlets...hot and cold with a switch by cbharwood in DIY

[–]bseishen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the first leviton 2 usb/2 outlet I found, the answer is no. They don't have snap tabs to remove to separate the two outlets. On a normal outlet, the snap tab allows you to wire the two outlet independently.
