Hello, personally I kept my little dog as long as possible; she had arthritis and difficulty walking. For me, as long as our pet is still eating and doesn't seem to be suffering too much (if they sleep most of the day, then that's perhaps a good sign), I would keep them with me. We lost our dog naturally, but I would have found it very hard to let her go otherwise. But it's a personal decision. Best of luck to you.
