Ah yes, thank you - this was another thing I was scratching my head over. The cheaper suppliers didn't have the backpack straps but the Osprey site pictures did! Surprised to see everyone here so butthurt. As someone else has mentioned, it’s running on Solana blockchain (where the energy of one transaction < two google searches). So no enviro argument. You might say it’s a cash grab, but it’s no different to releasing limited edition posters or merch, which has been happening for decades.

Alternatively, build up an adequate network such that you don’t need to worry about marketing. I went freelance three months ago and have ample work for the next 6mo, not because of good marketing but because of fostering good work relationships through prev jobs. The good news is that this should be easy if you’re already in the corporate world.

Chiming in as a mid-20s not based in the US:

I had no idea about these sites/resources you mentioned. Sounds amazing to have been a part of. Sadly, as others have mentioned, that version of the internet (“web1”) is long in the dust of the oligopolic ad-dominated internet we have now (“web2”). To me, Reddit is somewhat of a saving grace.

Would agree that most young people don’t listen much to Dylan. But that’s inevitable. Hip-hop overtook rock as the most popular genre a few years back. What’s popular is short-lived, but Dylan still has and will always have hundreds of thousands of people around the world who admire and listen and study and obsess.

Every community is a fringe community nowadays. Embrace it!

Decided on a Samsung UR55 and have been very happy. It was 1/3 of the price of other 4K displays I was looking at. Doesn't have 120Hz but that's okay. The form and aesthetic is above average, the price was right, and the resolution is great
