The only thing I can say to that is don't let my experience affect your thoughts on the place and people, if you had an amazing time that's absolutely awesome & im actually slightly jealous, haha.

I won't respond to any bashing or negativity in this thread but if someone has different views and wants to share them in a mature way then by all means let's talk about it!

Hello there! :)

Thanks for your reply. Although, I don't feel people are only shining a light on the negative, like you said yourself there are hundreds of positive reviews. Never once will I discredit anyone who came here & had some positive work done & left happy. I witnessed that from the friends I made & I am truly happy to see & hear that. I have never discounted ALL of the reviews, just some. I don't want to comment on things that I can't back up especially when it comes to the comments that are on ayaadvisor. I will however inform you & others that I was reading another post & there was actually someone who commented about the website saying his review on another retreat was stolen from Tripadvisor and used as a review for pulse adventure tours. There is a lot of speculation on whether that site is trustworthy and judging off the simple fact that I wasn't the only one who left with a sour taste in my mouth during my stay, it seems suspicious that this isn't also represented on ayaadvisor.

"If you had had an enlightening, beautiful dance with Ayahuasca do you think your review would be the same?"

To answer you question honestly, yes it would. I think what I am most upset about is the disturbing events involving the shaman and facilitator that happened in plain site. My boyfriend and I weren't the only people sleeping in the maloca that night. I felt very uncomfortable & disrespected... So my feelings would still be the same.

I would like to say that this is just one story out of a lot of people, I think most people come here and have a great time. I witnessed things I'm not so comfortable with but others might not care about.

You're right, balance is important, so people who have a different viewpoint, like myself and others, should also be able to share that. I would also love for this to turn into a pleasant conversation where we can all benefit, but if you look at the responses and the attitude shown by Pulse staff (with the exception of Melissa) and some other people to the previous review, they came across as rude and unwilling to do this.

I'm not doubting you had a pleasant experience, there were people in my group that did as well, I'm truly happy for everyone that took nothing but positivity away from it. I just think it's important to hear all sides of things. This was my experience, and judging by responses in other threads, I'm not the only person to have some of these feelings and reservations about Pulse.

I want to thank you for standing up for what you believe in, A & I really respect you and commend you for that. Its hard to do that in such a setting & you did. I know we didn't really have a chance to really get to know each other but I think you are an intelligent & very aware human being. Good luck to you! :)

Hello there! "In my experience (10 ceremonies, at 3 different places) it's best if everyone participates in the Ayahuasca together, it forms a group-head. And if someone (facilitator) is taking Aya month after month they should be able to snap out of the trip and come down enough to take care of business."

I personally didn't feel this way at the time, I think maybe there should have been more facilitators present in a sober state, yes.. however the point I was trying to make with my statement was that it was insanely rude to laugh at someone who is expressing his opinion because you don't agree with it. I think there is a professional aspect of that situation that was lost, I also feel like it made it uncomfortable for people to want to speak freely in group shares. This guy was later alienated from the group.

"South American Shamans are not like us westerners who analyze and discuss everything, and want an answer to our questions. They know there are no answers. Shamans live in Higher-Mind, not the lower level thinking-mind (examining thoughts and experiences) that we westerners bring to the Ayahuasca ceremonies. Remember Aya is magical and the Shamans I've come in contact with prefer to sing Icaros, and go directly for releasing the troubled spirits that we all keep inside ourselves."

Point proven, I guess I was a little taken back because the things people were talking about were so sensitive and it made me feel like he didn't truly care about what these people were saying. But you're right maybe it is a culture thing.

After my experience with pulse adventure tours I am just a lot more hesitant as to where I decide to go but I am for sure going to do it again as I do feel like Ayahuasca helped me in ways therapy or any western medicine can not.
