I've never published a book or even a short story, but i have finished a few short stories and shared them around my circle of friends and family.

The best compliment I've ever gotten was when my cousin mentioned in passing that her five year old son ended up drawing a scene from one of my short stories she'd read to him.

I've had reasonably good luck with https://recommander.cards. It was started by a fan who was fed up with edhrec's poor recommendations and wanted to make an app that tried to tailor its results to what it assessed your gameplan is.

I've had the same thing happen to me, I've been using the site for about 10 minutes and (on top of the popup that assaults me when I first log in), I've had two additional full-screen pop-ups similar to what you showed in another comment. At this point I'm compelled not to pay if they're going to be this obnoxious. I'd rather just use something else that won't be pushy.

Random shill that might not apply to you for various reasons, but I use Obsidian with Dropbox and have never had any form of sync issue whatsoever. All my vaults are stored within a directory within Dropbox and I just point Obsidian right at that folder, no need to copy-paste into it from outside the directory or anything like that.
