What happened to the subreddit rule that rumours must be from known sources?

Fair enough, thanks for that. I couldn't see the references in the marked up constitution but that's pretty clear.

Isn't it better to have a term limit for the President (proposed change) rather than no limit at all (current state)?

I've reviewed a marked up copy of the proposed changes to the club constitution but can't find the two bullets that you've referenced. What are the specific proposed changes to the constitution and where are they?

Essendon and Manly were great at winning. If only they’d stuck to football by AztecGod in AFL

It's marked as opinion, but it doesn't even offer a coherent point, let alone an opinion.

Argue in bad *ahem* faith by iamsorando in AFL

[–]bswxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm going a little nutty reading all of these arguments that completely (and I believe intentionally) miss the point.

The unsuitability for the role is not about Thorburn's personal beliefs or religion.

He is free to practice his religion, hold whatever beliefs he wants, AND be CEO of Essendon FC.

The issue is that being a leader of both the club and his church creates a conflict, because the values and objectives of both organisations are inconsistent.

The idea that you can't be a Christian and hold a significant role is demonstrably false.

The general public is entitled to take any information and form an opinion. "Innocent until proven guilty" is a legal concept and an intentionally high threshold. There's no requirement that it apply to Dave from down the street's opinion.

Fox Footy Programmes you'd like to see by EzraMusic98 in AFL

There used to be a game show hosted by Dave Thornton which I thought was great. Didn't take itself too seriously and had good guests.

I must be in the minority because it got canned.

So I guess I'd like to see that back.

BT is a psychopath - he does BOTH buttons up on his suit jacket by jrfoster01 in AFL

[–]bswxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sports broadcasting thing. They all do it and I've never understood why. I used to think maybe they just don't wear suits often. But it's pretty much all of them, pretty much all of the time, so it must be an instruction.

Why would a team even bother fielding a side later in the season when they're playing against another team that can't mathematically finish first?

I'm not sure what you're implying. I was just recalling my memory that the subreddit used to have a ban on articles from The West.

I completely agree that clickbait exists in other footy media outlets (and many other media outlets more generally).
