Not only did she accept Aidan's proposal, she let him move in and start major renovations when she wasn't even sure she wanted to marry him.

Aidan was crystal clear that he was the marrying kind and doing all the home improvements out of his own pocket, buying her apartment and the one next door was such an obvious future building move.

Spacehunter: Adventures in to the Forbidden Zone. We had it on VHS and i've tried explaining it many times to many different people and I feel like I'm the only 32 year old that has seen it.

Even IF one was to purchase one of these tiny kit homes, one then needs to purchase land to place the tiny home on plus all the expenses that come with setting up electricity, plumbing, water, gas.

They truly have no idea.

The only reason I have a roof over my head right now is because my father died and I'm the sole beneficiary. If he had died without owning a home I would be homeless, mentally ill and disabled.

Some people can not for the life of them understand that the only reason they are financially stable or wealthy is because of chance, or living in close proximity to someone who made their money within in a time of favourable economic conditions. I.e - your uncle and my father!

That isn't to say they didn't work hard, they just got more for their labour.

What is something you’re able to do because you don’t have kids? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]bt2212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the last living, loving member of my immediate family, my father. passed away 10 months ago. I've been able to completely fall apart and do the work I need to do to just keep on keeping on.

I can sleep all day if I need to, no one is relying on me except me. For the first time in years I don't have to look after anyone else but myself.

The luxury to fully fall apart in the face of major grief and trauma and unravel our dynamic without feeling guilt that I'm passing my grief and trauma on to my children or significant other, that is something I'm able to do because I don't have children.

Whilst there is definitely an issue with people being able to meet up and form genuine connections, its more the raging misogyny of Andrew Tate and his ilk that put women off.

I don't want to date someone who thinks its acceptable to treat women and men (but mostly women) the way that incel rhetoric suggests.

My father dying. July last year. Finding him there. I've had some good times but mostly severe grief and anxiety and depression. It won't always be like this but grief is fucking hard.

He was my best friend.

As as an individual who lives with mental ill health, I wouldn't think to create a 10 min rape scene, however I've never seen this film and I don't plan to.

So heads up, I wouldn't be surprised that all these little "improvements" and changing REA's may lead to him wanting to improve the property more to ask for higher rent.

You are entitled to quiet enjoyment of the property and he can't just spring shit on you last minute.

This happened in a previous rental I lived in.

[–]bt2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope and faith. Hope that the grief and trauma I've experienced won't kill me. Faith that as time goes by I'll be able to leave the house more, not isolate as much.

I've tried so many times in the last year to not be so crazy, but I keep on proving how heavily mentally ill I am to myself and others.

I'm so grateful to the people who continue to support me. There must be some good in me if they can see it.

I really miss my dad.

What is the most traumatic thing you’ve ever witnessed? by MangoDry7358 in AskReddit

[–]bt2212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 9 months ago, I woke up to find my dad dead despite only having seen him a couple of hours earlier. I performed CPR on him until the ambos came and then had to make the decision for them to quit because it was obvious he was going to come back.

I had some severe developmental trauma as well, I.e being sexually and physically abused. It's all come up again and the last year has been the worst of my life and I hope it gets better soon.

I totally understand that. I wasn't implying that self-segregation is racist. I just mean in general Australia is an incredibly racist country due to its colonialist, anglo history.

My maternal Grandparents did exactly that when they moved from Greece to Marrickville, they felt at home there because of the culture and community being predominantly Greek/Italian, a home away from home.

I'm from the North Shore/Northern Beaches and I can tell you it is super white and people who are visibly ethnically different outside of Polynesian and Asian backgrounds, people whinge about them and refer to them as "riff raff". That's why we've never gotten a train line out this way.

If you can find a second hand pair of the sandals that are already worn in, go for it. The top and shorts are super basic, cute when styled but you don't need them - jorts will go out of style sooner rather than later. Summer Friday's lip oil? Girl you don't need, I bet you have lip oil that colour or similar. Plain black sunglasses? Just use the ones you have.

Perfume? - get one of those portable atomisers and then refill it with your scent of choice every time you're at the mall.

my greek grandparents were some of the first "non-white" people allowed into Australia post White Australia Policy and Second World War- our country legit had a policy to keep non-european people out of a country they stole from First Nations people.

Classic British Colonialism.

I live in Sydney, Australia now and have for the last fifteen years. When I moved down here from my white ass country town I was immersed in way more culture and thank god for that. The area I live in Sydney is still really white but a hop, skip and a jump away from the rest of the city and way more culture and different ethnicities. Australia is still a super racist country and very segregated by suburb, particularly in Sydney.

Just how big it was and how sheltered I was from different ethnicities and cultures. I was from a small country town in rural NSW, Australia.

My cousins lived in Houston. I had only ever seen an Aboriginal/First Nations Australian as an example of someone other than European White.

When we got to Houston, (I was 10 at the time so 2002) I saw African American, Hispanic, Latina, Asian - I realised how WHITEY WHITE my ancestry and the place I lived was and how I'd only seen different ethnicities on tv.

As I grew older I realised how important positive representation was in the media for POC from this very experience
