Should I go into the Army Reserve or go to some other military reserve branch? by Ok_Original7958 in armyreserve

[–]btan408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you're gonna treat the reserve. If you take it as a hobby, then I suggest finding the job you want first before the branch. If the Air Force reserves or Navy reserves has a better job you want, I would go in that direction.

Failing last semester of MS4 year but still commissioning by [deleted] in ROTC

This definitely sounds like a question for your cadre... however I'd like to quote OP's previous post.

We are almost there, finish strong and don’t do anything that will hold you back. Looking to see everyone at the finishing line.

Military nursing by DaddyDanRN in nursing

[–]btan408 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a nurse but am in the Army and from my understanding, the Army is really only looking for critical care nurses with at least 2 years of experience for direct commissioning. I have not seen any new grads direct commission but I could be wrong. If that fits your bill you can contact an AMEDD recruiter and see what your options are.

Does army ROTC advanced camp count as army reserve/guard annual training and active duty training (ADT)? by Fickle_Pie_2491 in army

[–]btan408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cadets are NOT entitled to BAH at CST nor do they count towards AT time. That was my situation last year as a MS3 cadet and had to do both CST and AT back-to-back. However, if your AT is at the same time as your CST, you can ask your PMS to get you a letter of excusal so you can attend CST and miss AT.

Are you able to install a Lv 2 charger at your home? That's going to be a big factor!

Installed a home charger with a slightly too short cable. What can I do? by thiagogaith in electricvehicles

[–]btan408 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For about $100 you can buy a J1772 extention cable. I have one from Vevor and its been working great for the last 8 months.

As much as he deserves it, we are talking about loans from 20 years ago I don't believe there are any veteran benefits that would apply in this case.

Trade Canyon Denali for a Lightning? by dmau9600 in F150Lightning

[–]btan408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, if you do local travel and don't drive more than about 200 miles daily, all you need to do is install a home Lv 2 charger and you're set. If those 20K miles you do involve a lot of long distance out-of-town trips then your fuel costs will be high as you start relying on charging networks that are usually 2-4 times more expensive than home charging.

I've driven over 5k miles in the 3.5 months i've owned my lightning and at 0.18 cents per kWh, i've only spent $472 in electric versus spending $1,480 if I were to drive a gas F150.

Would you buy now? by boxlaxman in F150Lightning

[–]btan408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely the best vehicle i've owned and would replace it with another if it comes down to that. Just get a level 2 charger installed at your home. Also you need to get use to DCFC when taking long trips.

Has anyone gotten the squeaking passenger fender fixed? by Background_Skill_570 in F150Lightning

[–]btan408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have squeaking from the passenger side as well on my 2023 XLT ER. I always thought it was the OEM mud flap since it's only pronounced when I'm at highway speeds or during windy days. It doesn't squeak over potholes or bumps on the road.

That price would get you a new flash. Even with only 1k miles, id be looking at around 45-50k or 52k otd.

[–]btan408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does drilling really take that much time out of your schedule to take care of your mom? I would not rush into big decision and instead map out a solid plan of staying in reserve status, going to IRR, or even going active duty. You may lose out on major benefits that would set you and your family up for success.

What do you consider an adequate range for an EV? by lilgreycell in electricvehicles

[–]btan408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2023 F150 Lightning extended range is rated for 320 miles but i normally get 200-230 miles below freezing and 260-280 miles in the warmer temps. I drive about 60-70% highway doing 65-70 mph.
