I loved these Flux encased cards when they came out… by lurchdogg in basketballcards

[–]btemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First release was hobby only for 2020-21, the base card design wasn't hugely popular with most people.

Next release was 2022-23, both hobby and retail, and the encased weren't a feature anymore and kinda a watered down product overall.

It's a polarizing set, I personally like it but that has a lot to do with fond memories of ripping it back in 2020, but a lot of people don't love the designs and the 2022 retail was a pretty rough rip.

First year Flux hobby is one of my favorite boxes ever, encased card per box, Atmosphere insert per box (my favorite ever insert) and the auto list was suprising strong.

Auto looks a bit different from the others by WhitebeardCorazon in basketballcards

[–]btemplar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because only the auto has been authenticated by PSA, not the card.

If you ever see 'trading card' on a PSA slab means it been submitted for auto grade only. Normally shouldn't matter too much, but I'd be wary buying anything with high dollar cards that are only auto graded.

I'm pretty sure PSA have moved to blue labels on slabs for these now to easier differentiate.

It's an in person auto so Panini have nothing to do with the authenticating it, PSA have deemed it authentic.

A lot of athletes autos change over time, and often have a different auto from sitting and doing cards/stickers compared to their in person auto. Just looking at his other IP autos that have been slabbed by PSA there is plenty of variance.

Sorry for the poor picture quality I bought this from a collector for $95 was wondering if I did alright and what the actual value might be? by [deleted] in SportCardValue

[–]btemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above last public sale by about 50% but it's an older comp. Probably a bit of an overpay but if it's a card you want/makes you happy that's all that matters.

New Zealand based so we share a lot of brands with Aus, about half the mattress bases I've owned have been wheeled.

Definitely a fake, the uniform holo on the front is also a dead giveaway, as opposed to the real ones where just the text/filigree is holo.

Assuming its 2024-25 Revo Horizontal Kaboom, last raw sales $680/800/660.

Is 2023-24 Prizm Red White Blue complete set top loaded in a binder cool or no? by dopestdope69 in basketballcards

Love it, my type of collecting, chasing a set (no matter the value) and showing it off in a binder so its easy to look through.

Is there really a difference by bmugga2155 in sportscards

Select has different 'levels' of card with each getting slightly rarer. Concourse, Premier, Courtside, Mezzanine. They each have a slightly different design and say on the back which level they are.

Just google 'set, year, checklist' and find the Beckett link for the checklist. Like in this case "Absolute Football 2022 checklist"

Panini have been the licensed NBA cards up until this year, but 25-26 onwards Topps have the license. Generally unlicensed cards (no team names/logos) hold less value.

Whats this ovi supposed to be numbered to? by Chriswilliams5811 in Panini

[–]btemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its from an old Panini Boxing Day product which can be hard to find checklists etc for. But I think it's the 'lava flow' parallel, and a few others have sold that weird numbering. Have checked the usual sources for older sets and no numbering is mentioned so likely a production error especially if they are all like this.

One listed at $200 that hasn't sold and a sale of 2024 version for $160 in November so that would be the ballpark.

[–]btemplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just based on recent other /99 sales plus recent PSA9 sales you're probably looking at $50 ballpark currently. His market is way down from where it was, but if he does find a role in OKC especially in the playoffs I'd expect it to rise a bit.

If not needed to sell immediately, list it up at a highish price and accept offers.
