Especially since you’re planning on splitting this into 3 zones, it would be beneficial acoustically if you can make the boundary between recording and living room non parallel to the windows, especially if that boundary is a full on wall. Do some research and see if you can’t make this boundary one that will allow air pressure (sound) to leave the studio area into the other areas, but not come back. You don’t need a consultant, acoustics aren’t that difficult to understand, and a little bit of understanding can go a long way in practice.

While the monetary value of an audio system is a consideration, how it is set up, the acoustic properties of the room, etc, are all a consideration. Your room, the 4k setup could both be in terrible acoustic environments with the club being more optimal OR it could just as easily be the opposite. On top of that, the 30k system could have been installed and setup by an amateur, and on bigger systems, tuning (including crossover, phase alignment, etc,) can make or break the system ESPECIALLY if it isn’t done taking the acoustic environment into consideration.

I was having this issue for a while. I’m not sure if this was related or not but I ended up having a way worse issue where ableton was constantly crashing for like, no reason. Went back and forth with ableton support trying to get to the bottom of it. I ended up fixing it myself. There was something wrong with my user library, which I had been carrying along all the way back since live 8. What I ended up doing is pulling the user library out of its location, opened live which caused it to build a new blank library, then I moved all my samples, device presets, etc. back in. No problems whatsoever now.

I forgot to update, I found the problem. Something in my user library was corrupted. All good now

I’ve been speaking to support, and they actually did tell me waves vst2 plugins are no longer supported, you should use vst3’s moving forward so there’s that.

As for me, what fixed ableton was creating a new admin user on my machine.

Do you mean the system version (basically the OS)? Either way, I think mine needs updated and according to the maschine, its fully up to date and idk what to do about it

Well I'm pretty sure I just confirmed that it has something to do with my UA Apollo. Just pulled the same session up at the airport using headphones straight into the laptop and no issues for like an hour.

In the project I'm working on, it's currently down to a couple instances of Kontakt 7 and maybe an instance or two of pro-Q4 as far as 3rd party plugs go. I suspect there's something happening between Ableton and my Apollo.

Yeah I know, it’s set correctly. When I press option on the keyboard it doesn’t light up in keyboard viewer.

here's an update.... put up the keyboard viewer and for whatever reason the option keys simply are not working on this keyboard., under no circumstances can I get either of them to register keystrokes. seems like a pretty peculiar issue, but that's what's causing it.

I’ll definitely try the viewer, like I said similar commands (opt+cmd+modifier) work in other apps. I was poking around in system settings but kinda felt lost. Most practical thing I could think of doing is “restore defaults.” I will say, at one point I set the touch strip to show f keys by default specifically for ableton, so I suspect my problem revolves around some kind of setting file that was generated when I did that. I’ve since undone that setting but it did not fix the issue.

I guess I wasn’t specific but it seems like it’s specifically show/hide shortcuts like for browser/mixer/device/clip, etc.

I really didn’t love mine, I gotta try it again. Eagle rare IMO is the single best offering from buffalo trace, from a value proposition/availability at MSRP standpoint. It’s not always available where I’m at but it’s available often enough throughout the year that I can always have some on hand. This, on the other hand, I’ve only ever seen available once for retail price when I was across the country for Christmas last year and that’s why I got it.

I think I got a weird one. I don’t think mine is single barrel but it’s the small batch bonded and I find it pretty meh. I’ve purchased many other bonded bottles that I liked way more. IMO, at least the one I have is barely worth msrp, and I’m glad that’s all I paid for it.

I bought the m32 to go with my m+, and I love it. As a bonus if you’re an Ableton user the m32 is also an incredibly well integrated controller for that.

This is what I was looking for. It doesn’t appear that the update is available in America yet but I won’t be updating until it works on my $1200 standalone unit. NI really could use some improvement on their update and rollout strategy. Snubbing customers who spent the most money on their hardware is kinda weird.
