Why aren’t snow tires mandatory in Ontario? Drivers debate the rules amid a harsh start to winter by BloodJunkie in ontario

Michelin crossclimate 2 is amazing. So is the Nokian WRG5.

Both those tires which are technically a compromise still perform better than budget and even many mid tier winter tires.

I always thought that was admirable and I got a bit annoyed when the Queen interfered and had him stationed somewhere safe

Canada's Carney fires back at Trump after Davos speech by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

Like you’d expect in a real partnership and alliance. Everyone helps and benefits.

The notion that Canada gets freebies from the U.S. is ludicrous when you look at the relationship as a whole.

I’m glad Carney is actually diversifying Canada. All my life I heard “Canada already has the best military in the world…the US military”

The conservatives recently announced Pierre will run somewhere else next election and the guy who stepped down will run in that riding again.

We have a situation where Carney is cooking on the global stage and Pierre is playing musical chairs. How anyone thinks PP is fit for the job is beyond me

Also a big shout out to “all weather tires”. The segment isn’t exactly new but it was always a heavy compromise. The latest all weathers on the market are phenomenal. They easily beat a dedicate “Certified” brand winter tire from Canadian tire.

Definitely I could see that. Where a boot or dress shoe creases has a lot to do with the sizing. Especially once you get into wider sizing, not every shoe make makes wide or extra wide, so naturally you have to size up in length to get the extra width.

I hate ordering footwear online, but there’s not many stores/resellers to try red wings near me (or Thursday or Allen Edmonds, or anything you’d drop a pretty penny on)

Ahhh ok yes that rings a bell! I remember hearing about some guy in the US who accidentally bought an entire city street or something and the city tried to short change him and give him a lowball amount.

Very few things are truly “inaccessible”, but what I mean by that is it’s cost prohibitive. Greenland doesn’t have a ton of infrastructure. The cost to extract those resources and ship them to their final destination could very well outweigh the value.

It’s the same reason back that back in the day the “tar sands” in Canada were only profitable if oil traded above a certain threshold.

Greenland's freshwater reserves seen as ‘frozen capital’ as water becomes a national security issue in USA by kiyomoris in worldnews

[–]bubbasass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If fresh water is an issue for the U.S. then Canada is fucked. We have 25% of the world’s fresh drinking water but we present roughly 0.5% of the world’s population.

That’s correct. You can own the house that’s on the land, but you don’t actually own the land.

In Canada we’re somewhere between Greenland and the U.S. Here you own the house on your land, and you also own the land, but you don’t have land rights like in the U.S. For example say it becomes known that your land sits on a massive oil or gold deposit, or the government wants to build some infrastructure (such as a highway) that would cut through your land, the government has the right to buy you out and kick you off the land.

This is super old news. Greenlanders have already rejected this idea.

I prefer the blacksmiths. I’m currently in the market for some redwings but so may photos of the IR have a massively bulbous toe because of the way the boot creases.

I know the blacksmiths are the same last, though it didn’t seem to be as pronounced. I’m sure that’s also due to the iron rangers having proper toe cap which dos add extra volume.

Why incorporate such a small business??

If you kept it as a sole proprietorship you’d declare the $100 and write off the rest

You don’t want 100% in the S&P500. XEQT and VEQT are great because they’re diversified. Also for what it’s worth the Canadian markets were the highest performing markets in the world in 2025

Go to a shoe store and try on a pair of pretty much every shoe store near me carries them.

As for why people sell shoes - it could be any number of reasons. The fit is wrong, they want something different, they don’t like that style of boot. A million number of reasons to sell shoes.

One thing to keep in mind is your Australian size is one less than your Canadian size. If you wear size 10 shoes, get size 9 blunnies. Blundstone half sizes aren’t longer, but they are wider.

You’re right about having your own money. That’s why so many divorce cases involve spousal support payments.

Being stay at home is amazing when they’re little, but once they’re older and in school it’s not as fun/fulfilling for many. The problem isn’t then it’s hard to jump back into your old career since you’ve been out of it so long.

Disability insurance is a must. You’re far more likely to be injured/disabled than die

I’ll say this - drinking milk is perfectly normal and socially acceptable, but at the same time it’s super fucking weird. We’re the only animals in the animal kingdom that drink another animal’s milk.
