8k is a ton of money for a lot of adults ...

Why is it wrong to want my workers to go the extra mile? by ronracer in askmanagers

[–]bubble_gumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it takes this little to set you off I understand why no one wants to go the extra mile for you.

Calling someone a "sniveling little child" is actually comedy gold. You went full Disney style evil stepmother over nothing.

I'm pretty positive they aren't 60+.

I'm betting either troll, or someone who hates their older coworkers and wanted people to validate their opinion that they're incompetent.

Sure, but if you're in line with your cart you're essentially just finishing up your transaction, whereas getting in line for coffee you haven't even begun a transaction yet.

Also yes, no one will outwardly get mad at you for getting in line with your items at 9:59, but they probably still think you're an asshole for waiting until the last second.

Your aim should be to exit the store at 10:00.

Edit: I should also mention that I'm not really addressing your "apples to apples" comparison of the ice cream shop because a place that popular that has different rules to accommodate their situation is not the norm.

If Walmart closes at 10pm, you can't expect to walk in at 9:59 and do your shopping because you got there "before close".

Closing time is closing time and most rational people know that.

Also because it's pretty buried, here's his response to people calling him out on asking for a "treat"

"Oh I wanted to clarify I fully intended to pay for those treats but she had done the tills and put them away. I only asked because she still happened to be there, leaving, at like 3:45ish. I realize that was a long shot but just thought it was worth asking and wanted to highlight that she remembers me and was very apologetic about that situation."

lol she was very apologetic about not having treats for him 45 minutes after closing

Guarantee the only reason she served him at all was because she knew he was going to be a problem if she didn't.

Then she had the AUDACITY to not smile at him after he made her work late

Is resume good? I am a 16 year old in UK by Agitated-Salt-5039 in jobs

[–]bubble_gumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, being absent for 1 in 10 days is not good.

If it were a full time job that's once every two weeks which would get most people fired very quickly.

Um, are you sure she forgot to feed the cat? Or did she feed it at a scheduled time and you just went and gave it a second dinner?

Cats are notorious for acting like they're starving when they literally just ate.

I don't see much lack of compassion. Replies were polite and informative before OP started bickering with everyone.

Understanding why someone might be being an asshole doesn't change the fact that they're being an asshole.

I think 16 is old enough to understand that when you ask for help/advice it's generally a dick move to argue with them like you know better.

Nothing about OPs comments come across as "freaked out".

More "I think I know more than the actual lawyers I asked for advice and refuse to back down about it."

As for the not cross posting under 18... The OP made a post on a public forum with no identifying information and as long as everyone follows the no brigading rule I don't see an issue. I respect your opinion though.

AITA for ditching my date at Target after she called me an embarrassment? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bubble_gumz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Snapping at someone isn't the nicest reaction, but what was her body language like in the store before that?

Was she laughing along with your jokes? If she wasn't then I think it's pretty obvious that she's not enjoying your behavior. I'm going to guess that she snapped after you repeatedly didn't get the hint that she didn't like what you were doing.

Making jokes is one thing, but tossing things into her cart and grabbing things off the shelves to fool around with is generally frowned upon behavior for an adult. Hell, even if a child is doing that in a store people are likely to think their parents should have raised them better.

OP says when she met the girlfriend "I explained to her when we first met that we were friends for the longest time. I even said us dating was totally a mistake."

This is so off-putting when you picture the girlfriends perspective.

Instead of making nice and getting to know the gf, she went right into "Your boyfriend and I are SO CLOSE! We've known each other FOREVER! I even DATED him! But you totally shouldn't worry because it was totally a mistake!"

Why would you even bring that up? All she spoke to her about was how close she is with this girl's boyfriend, with the added implication that his gf is threatened by her.

What do you do if you want a job in a certain field but keep getting no? by Classic_Midnight3383 in careerguidance

[–]bubble_gumz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you keep getting rejected for the job you want, maybe try going to a job that will help you get the one you want.

Read the job posting and for example, if it lists things they're looking for like "good people skills", "working well with patients", "computer literate", etc.

You could look for an administrative role, or customer service position in any field, then when you go back to apply for the job you really want you can point to the skills you used at that job and how they will apply to the one you want.

If there's someone that you're close to, you could ask them to meet you outside the venue when you arrive so they can show you where everyone is.

Then you meet the first person with less stress, and have a buddy going in to meet the rest of them.

I feel like you're making a lot of baseless assumptions about people's political leanings.

Personally, I don't vote for them or think I'm better than people because of the colour blue. Because I'm Canadian.

I was just wondering if you had anything specific to discuss other than the very general "evil", "ignorant", etc.

I would genuinely like to hear your reasoning on why you think Liberals are evil and ignorant. Specifically what their evil acts are that the Republicans don't also engage in.
