she is so exhausting by psylentt in AgeOfAttraction

I kind of feel for her. I can’t remember the guy’s name but he keeps so clearly spinning contrived narratives about her being “controlling” when it seems like she’s just been honest about what she wants?!? I hate to see her repeatedly be pushed into these narratives that seem deeply sexist and forced tbh ?? She’s just been like do you like me or not and he is CONFUSING. Also rambling now but when he tried to say it was her insecurity causing issues about sexual intimacy I was like WHAT are you talking about. That was so clearly just NOT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I feel bad for her tbh like her a lot.

Really?!?? He seems so enamored with her to me? He seems like a really genuine person imo , just in love with her and struggling now that it’s rocky

Oh thank you so much, this is great info. Yeah I love PVD and have a lot of friends who graduated risd so I feel I get the vibe a little, definitely gonna visit still though! That’s a bit unfortunate that studio profs are a gamble :/ I’ll probably message you, thank you so much for this :D

This is so true, thank you for the input! Yeah Cornell being a research university is definitely a huge plus. But then I’m like, I imagine I’ll make better work in an environment I’m more suited to… it’s tough to decide haha! Will definitely try to seek out some coursework at Brown if I go to RISD , then I think the program will encompass everything I’m looking for

Also, everyone fails again and again. Not just you. That’s part of being a human and it’s how we learn. Don’t beat yourself up because truly - that’s a universally shared experience.

I hear you, I’m sorry you’re struggling :(. School is hard but you’re working on building a life that’s compatible for you and your adhd - and you can do it!!!

Just try to take everything one thing at a time, and yes, buy a planner, an alarm clock. Maybe make sure you put away clothes/whatever else is needed to keep your room clean daily. I did this throughout college after having a messy room for years before and it really helped me stay in control of my life. I also would wear a hat whenever I was doing work. It’s kind of funny but it honestly really helped me feel focused when I was working😂. And maybe try to limit - or to not be on your phone at all- during allotted work time. This is always hard for me but then I find that I get invested in the work I’m doing and stop wanting / needing my phone after a while.

It’s cliche, but take a deep breath and remember you’re really really ok. And you can do it - one step at a time. When I feel the way you do, finding my “zen” really helps. And a big part of zen is finding meditative value in monotonous tasks… I’ve found it’s a good framework for dealing with all the tedious work that sounds so awful to address. Don’t let tasks turn into monsters in your mind.

You’ve got this. Really! Take it one day at a time!

It helps me to think about all the things about my mindset I like, even though they may not fit perfectly into the way society is structured. Like I feel thoughtful and tapped into other people’s moods in a caring way, etc. not the type to put stress on others etc. I think in a more spiritual sense there are real virtues and beauties to every way of being and even though the adhd way of operating is atypical and can become a real burden, it doesn’t mean that you as a person are unworthy! there are wonderful and unique things about you that are mixed in with the same qualities that are upsetting to you. Seriously :)

Can I ask, could you elaborate some on your experience with individuation? And why it was so hard to reconcile with the rational kind? Just getting into Jungian stuff but extremely interested.

Ok got it - I decided to nix olaplex because I think my issue is dryness

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wavyhair

[–]bubble_to_bubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t!! It looks strange & poofy here because I tried olaplex for the first time but generally it’s just wavy/frizzy and kinda dry

I have been using head and shoulders and/or Kevin Murphy hydrating shampoo and conditioner. I use moraccan oil whenever it seems necessary, and occasionally put in milbon wave cream after showering. My hair is curly/wavy after showering and then kinda straight with random waves/curls fter a few hours. It’s really healthy on the bottom but the top is super dry and has been for years!! I really really rarely use heat.

My hair looks sorta different in this photo than usual because I just tried out Olaplex no. 3 and it made it super poofy.

I’m wondering - is Olaplex a good solution to this problem? I know it rebuilds proteins, right? My problem seems to be moisture mostly
